I hate when people want that edge they got from something similar and criticise for not living up to it. This shows characters and their battles in a way that's different from Rust and Marty. The power balance between these characters are completely different from season 1, and the editors handled it perfectly. Sure, this season doesn't feed the same level of adrenaline or catharsis, but sure tells the story for its characters.

Quite possibly the most criminally underrated series of TV ever made. I ADORE this show and while season 1 is amazing I actually liked season 2 more. Season 3 is awesome as well but 2 is my favorite. All 4 leads are phenomenal especially Vince Vaughn.

You don't change U.S. states. UC in Texas and Det. in a Louisiana squad is impossible for a police officer. I thought a hidden gem that only a UC would get were the two black interviewing detectives. While others thought that some race thing or other was going to be an issue, the fact is , is that White UC's are rare and bond with the Black and Hispanic majority of UC's. I'm white but no way I'd open up like that to another white detective. They would never understand. That's proven in that he is an outsider in the detective squad while he's trying to solve the serial killing. Been there. If it wasn't done on purpose, then the writer lucked into the truth.

This theme fits well with the season as its dark and smoky which fits with a darker more film noir season. This season is literally darker with the lighting whereas season 1 was in bright blazing Louisiana sun most of the time with this season being more at night.

Na época que essa temporada foi lançada saíram DIVERSAS criticas negativas. A primeira temporada trouxe uma trama muito sublime, além da produção ter sido espetacular. Estou surpreso, mesmo após anos, com tantas pessoas elogiando essa temporada. Acho que naquela época estávamos tão eufóricos por uma sequência tão fodástica, que talvez não notamos a magnitude do segundo ano. Ainda pretendo rever tudo do começo outra vez. The first time I heard this song I didn't like it. It's a far cry from the season 1 theme song. But I realized after the watching the whole episode that it set a whole different tone to season 2. I love this 2nd season more than the third. Maybe the 2nd is too different from the first, but at least Pizzolatto tried something new (and at least I loved to see a show really dark from the beginning to the end). With the third season... Well I can't tell that I disliked it but seriously Pizzolatto is just writting what haters wanted to see (a remake of the first season). I don't know if season 2 killed the show, but haters probably did it.

The problem is that people still comparing season 1 with season 2! That is... so unfair. S1 is a masterpiece i know, but the only way in which you can really enjoy S2 is to forget about S1. I tried years ago to watch s2 but i was thinking during the first two episodes in the masterpiece that was the first season and end up quitting. But last week i rewatch season 1 and now i am watching season 2 and i can tell you that s2 deserves a lot more than “ is not as good as s1”. The darkness still there! and this awsome intro proves that! Yeah, is more chaotic in terms of plot and characters but.. my hype is growing with each episode. So stop comparing! And just enjoy this awsome show!
