Often times the history of dress is taught from the Western cultural. But not every Christian is Western. Is it possible to give a presentation on dress reform from a non-Western perspective? How does dress reform look for people who wear clothes from other cultures?

Hello my brother Christ Concerning dress reform it should be thought from the Bible Perspective and not western etc. When our culture conflicts the Bible we choose the Bible. The principles of God word should rule over any cultural practices. If we are to be covered whether we use a dress or we use a piece of cloth it should meet the standard of drsss reform. I have a question, before Adam-and-Eve ate the forbidden fruit they were unaware of them being naked, so therefore what change for us to have to dress modestly now ? Is that part of our punishment? If they would have never ate in the fruit will we still be unaware of Our naked ness, therefore it wouldn't be a need to have to dress modest?

They were covered with a soft glow of light. When they sin it was removed. After the transgression of Adam and Eve they were naked, for the garment of light and security had departed from them. - LDE 249.2

Sin brought us to where we there garment of innocent was removed. They had only known good until they disobeyed. Even with there aprons they were still naked. Christ made a coat for them.

Thanks for asking your question my Sister. When you are at home its not necessary to do this except you have persons coming over to your home, then you will need to dress appropriate. Keep something close by incase of visitors.

I appreciate your video. However, please be careful not to represent what you consider to be gaudy colors as if they really are. Just because a color is rich and vibrant does not make it gaudy. Gaudy colors which are obviously so are neon, or the brightest of their hue family. Nothing wrong with wearing red or orange as Sister White did mention in her writings requesting her red dress and even buying red plaid fabric I believe to make a garment for her young son or herself. Dressing ourselves In a drab color palette and unbecoming colors were also advised against in the Spirit of Prophecy. Let’s be careful in not making our own interpretations the standard. Otherwise, excellent video and I hope you understand that I am not criticizing but offering input since you made a public statement in a public video. Keep up the excellent work and may God bless!

This does not mean we are to dress like Ellen White or Little House on the Prairie. There is a way to wear, shorts, pants , tank tops and bathing suits when its 113 in Arizona and be modest. Because of sin, we have medical issues, damage and flaws. Cosmerics help and are useful. SDA's look either too worldly or very weird. Both extremes are wrong. Looking attractive is not a sin. Too many SDA's look terrible with their mediocre, frumpy and ugly attire and it turns potential believers away. Furthermore, we do not have to wear skirts and dresses every single day of the week or for exercising, thats ridiculous and extreme. Its about modesty- not weird. Make no mistake, looking weird, almost like the Amish will NOT draw people to Christ. Quite the opposite. If i had to look at SDA's of today, I'd stay in the world. Those who believe in EGW ognore what she says amd to paraphrase it...she says..we are not to look weird but to be modest fir the period of history we live in. Dont u think it woukd look weird going to a beach in the summer and wearing a dress thats all the way to the ankles and wrists and high neck and then getting in the water? Thats weird! Who would come and say " hey, tell me about your religion so I can be a part of it". Ellen White also said dress reform is not to be a test for our salvation. Prejudice against the dress, which would cut off my testimony if I wore it, until I had fully set the matter before the people, and the time came, in the order of events, for it to be generally adopted. {2BIO 181.4} The dress reform was among the minor things that were to make up the great reform in health, and never should have been urged as a testing truth NECESSARY TO SALVATION. Among EXTREMISTS this reform seemed to constitute the sum and substance of their religion. Consequently, "because that which was given as a blessing was turned into a curse, the burden of advocating the reform dress was removed."--MS 167, 1897 The dress question is not to be our present truth. To create an issue on this point now would please the enemy. He would be delighted to have minds diverted to any subject by which he might create division of sentiment, and lead our people into controversy. Guiding Principles of Dress Reform 14.2

You are correct, I don't think the video said we are are to dress like Sis White. We are told to cover our limbs. Our styles vary based on our style or culture, but the standard of God is the same. @@presenttruthtosda4950 again, God never said these are salvation issues because if they were, it seems obvious that they would either be written about in detail in the bible AND God wouldn't have waited til the 1800's to give this message. The salvation issues are written about in the bible and form the 10 commandments. If you search the bible, it says what type of person along with behaviors that wont be allowed in heaven. No where does it say that a woman will only be saved unless she's wearing a dress 24/7. Please keep it real.There is such a thing as extremism and fanaticism which this presentation seems to be moving towards.
