I came back to Christ 3 days ago, and I brought my wife to the Lord with me. Every sermon is helping, but prayer and Bible study and communion together is what drives the walk with God to our Home. I hope my wife and I can be rebaptized soon. It's an absolute necessity for us.

Nicholas Alexander, sermons are important to help us build our faith . It's the first step . Faith comes from hearing , hearing the word of God. But hearing sermons alone can't grow our faith . It is by studying God's words , praying , witnessing , live an obedient life by God's grace that will bring us closer to the Lord. To be born again Christians.

@@EricSaavy I do believe Jesus said: I you love me, OBEY (keep) MY commandments, not some bishop. Apostolic succession is hawg wash. So is pagan practices calling it religion using Jesus'name. Did you not understand the true meaning of of Isaiah talking about seven women ? That's apostate churches and THEIR righteousness, pagan tradition and doctrines of devils (their OWN bread) That's the religio-political system spoken of by Daniel the prophet and John in the Revelation. That's Rome where a man forgives sins in God's place and where a man and his doctrine is reveared over Jesus and His words ....when ya get through! Too much time is spent on Adventist sites spewing apostolic succession doctrine by true dissenters and it's a total waste of time because these people know (most anyway, others come by God's grace to learn) truth about the man of sin, the son of perdition. If you watched this video so you can judge others in the comments then your life is sad. Think outside the box. The house of GOD is turning into a fashion show to distract the eyes of others. Our sole purpose is to praise the LORD not to be enticed or entertained when we go to the house of GOD. I have always felt like if we could see God on the platform our behavior would change. He is thre with us no matter if we can see him or not. If the Queen of England were to visit our church we would not attend wearing the clothing that many do. The same with behavior. We would not behave in the loose , noisey way that is done if the Queen were there. Why isn't' God reverenced at least as much as an earthly monarch? He is there with us although we cannot see Him.

And the brightest laserlightning. Movie theaterseats, the old wooden couches are now removed. And the tastless black coffee after church is now an italianstyle type bar with nespresso and late's. A traditional 95% white church, serieus and homelike is now a club. Im a black man in The Netherlands. The church is now just like the world. And I am only 25 yet a miss normal churchlike church. Jesus gave us the example. He was going every Sabbath to the synagogue, in which almost nobody was really converted. Tell people to repent, if they start to hate you, change of church. If you can't, then there is no real solution. Continue to go to the same church, giving the same example. Mat 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

I agree with the sermon and the importance of modesty in dress.. However, we need to stop implying that Bathsheeba intentionally positioned herself so that David could notice her.. There is no scriptural evidence to support that.. And GOD help us if we are wrong because we would have wrongfully judged her.. She was out late at night when the men- including David- should have been at war.. While a woman should be well covered and her revealing herself is seductive, we as men have to bear responsibility for what we look at, dwell on and our subsequent actions..

@Revoque Chegmester They were at war. That's why David had Uriah come back from the front so that he could have relations with Bathsheba, to cover up her pregnancy. I don't see any place in the Bible that suggests Bathsheba knew David was watching. People (men and women) need to take responsibility for their actions instead of blaming others for their bad behavior. Women should dress modestly, to glorify God and not to let men stumble, but the men need to take responsibility for acting on their bad behavior. Women shouldn't be blamed for men who rape.
@bluewillow4985
@bluewillow4985 4 жыл бұрын
I am not sure where you got your information, but Bathsheba was actually bathing in what is called a Micvah. She had just finished her monthly cycle which had made her unclean. This is a Hebrew religious ritual all Jewish women participated in. David was the one on the rooftop above the entire city. He was the guilty party whose lust controlled his decision to send messengers to "take" Bathsheba from her place and command her to come to him. Women would never be given the freedom to defy the command of the King! You need to read the chapter again in context. In Hebrew the language her depicts a rape. Bathsheba was a innocent victim to the selfish lust of David. This weakness of David plagued him through out his reign. Just count how many wives and concubines he owned. Women he chose often left him into pagan compromise. Check out his life story in completeness. the end of David's life was a result of this weakness with women.
@hasanitinnie8119
@hasanitinnie8119 4 жыл бұрын
@Revoque Chegmester Friend, first off I am a man.. My display pic is a picture of my wife.. Second, there is no scripture that says that GOD punished Bathsheeba.. You are assuming that the baby's death was a punishment to Bathsheeba.. It was clearly a punishment for David's sin.. That is why he petitioned to GOD in sackcloth on behalf of the child.. Because he recognized that the child's condition was on account of his sin.. Additionally, please re read the text prayerfully.. It was obvious that it was the first time David saw Bathsheeba bathing in a place that she normally bathes; which is a clear indication that it was not planned.. Two, David couldn't sleep and he just happened to go out on his verandah which was in an elevated position; an elevated vantage point that Bathsheeba had never been to to realize she can be seen from there.. This obviously means that Bathsheeba was bathing late at night - at a time when people should have been sleeping.. When you consider those facts it was obvious she had no intention of being seen and him seeing her was just happenstance.. Again, David should have been at war.. In David's time, Twitter and CNN was not around to notify citizens that the king was not with the soldiers.. Lastly, a woman's dress has very little to do with her getting raped.. Women in Islamic countries are covered from head to toe and are still raped.. How do you explain that?? Simple: it is sin nurtured in man's heart that causes him to rape and lust not the length of a woman's skirt..

I've been attending church for only a little while, and I have not dressed like Pastor Doug said we should. I wore pants to church. Recently, God has been teaching me about modest apparel. Since I can't find it in the stores, I am planning on making my own dresses. The point I'm trying to make is that, no one yelled at me for my apparel, but God is giving me understanding. The Lord will also help those women with their understanding. But don't be easily offended. Love is patient. I hope you go back to Bible Study--where you can learn about loving God and loving people.

It is very sad to say and to look at our church being more and more compromised to the world. But let no our faith in God be weakened by what we see, instead we should always turn our focus on Him and alway ms direct our sight to Him and we will see less and less of others.. Why not try setting an example for them? thanks for reading...

Agreed; it's happening more and more with younger women who attend church. They are dressing like church is their day time fashion show to meet men. So ladies please; show respect. ( This is a church ) not a day time night club. The other issue is; women at church need to gracefully let younger women know about dressing appropriately. If someone stepping over dress boundaries; we need to pull them aside in private and gently let them know what they are wearing isn't appropriate. Some women seem to want to draw attention by a "show off" button inside of them. They need to understand there's a "time and a place" for certain things. I've been a artist designer fashion person ever since I was in high school. You can still look beautifully stylish at church without going over board. Keep it understated, up to date and classy; without ever offending anyone. I agree: I was shocked last month at what a young 20 yr. old women was wearing. And, I SHOULD have said something to her in private. More churches need to remind everyone during announcements on Sunday mornings.

I was corrected by a church woman once around 1973. "Does your mother know you are wearing that!?". I was wearing a fitted knit wrapped top and a bias cut maxi skirt. I wonder what she thinks of church attire today!

I think this is the sermon which is long overdue. We as adults should be an example to the young people. We have a high school here where we live but the children come to church a lot of times the girls look like they forgot to put their dress on because when I was that age we used to wear a slip under our dress it was part of our underwear. These girls wear dresses that looks like it should be underwear. I think that every S D A school should have a dress code and the young people should learn to dress like the Bible says. The boys dress to come to church like they were going to a sports game.

I have noticed for YEARS the dressing of women to be all too worldly, this past Sabbath I thought I was sitting by a Kardashian:-( I struggled with not wanting to judge her, not look down upon, she was younger & most "beautiful" indeed, but her clothing was short and tight fitting showing every youthful curve w/stiletto's and seemed to be loved and admired by the other members of this church I have been visiting in hopes of finding a New Home Church after having relocated...What do we as modest dressing Christians say or even do in situations such as this? do we "judge"? do we remain silent? I am so confused, we are not to desire our brother/sister to stumble, I haven't even been formally introduced to much of this church family:/ any suggestions are appreciated:-)

Don't judge the Bible says..... & there's a saying "never judge a book by its cover". How would we feel, dressed as we are, if we were standing by a group of women dressed as they were in Jesus day..... 🤔 I wonder what those women would say about our apparel?

I'm sick to death of hearing, regarding sin and apostasy, that we shouldn't say anything since everyone is in a different place, and may be unconverted, so we shouldn't judge...and heaven forbid, offend anyone; that we should all just sit in silence and love each other. And that includes more than just the subject of clothing. What a bunch of bunk. I spent years and years, pretty much my entire life doing my own thing, going my own way, had nothing to do with God. However, even I know better, that when in God's house I am to dress as tastefully and modestly as if in front of the Queen or the President. God is the King of the universe and deserves far, far more respect than these earthly powers. Rest assured that if church members were invited to such places they would move heaven and earth to dress in their finest. And let's not kid ourselves, it wouldn't be jeans and frumpy house dresses. Oh yes, I've heard that excuse too, that they don't have the best. Listen, one can find the finest things at thrift stores, yard sales and the like. Yet in most of the SDA churches I've been to, people look like they're about to head to the beach/a picnic, do farm work, just got off the wagon train or climbed out of the 1800's, are carelessly/sloppily dressed. Or it's the extreme opposite: dressed like street walkers. In so doing members show God how little respect they have for Him and make countless excuses for it. Having lived so many years away from God, the lack of life experience and naivete of most SDA's astounds me. Whereas satan would have a nearly impossible time getting those like myself back onto his turf, he has the easiest time with this group, the inexperienced and bored. Bottom line: If you wouldn't wear it at the palace or the White House, don't even think about wearing it in God's House. And for the record, I don't for one second buy into "Better frumpy than fashionable for God." The loveliest fashions for men, women and children are affordable and modest. Last, those who claim to believe what EGW says, should read Discipleship Handbook, page 165, first two paragraphs. Seriously, fix yourselves up, folks, join the 21st century!

Youre right there we absolutely have no right to judge anyone but we shouldnt stay silent and mind our own business because we have the truth we carry and God tells us to share it to others, so when your brother is erring do not condemn them but staying silent is also not a choice for God will hold you accountable for any soul you havent helped just by not saying anything or by saying too much.. Say its better if we approach them and carefully tell them their wrongdoings than for God to tell them in the Judgement day

I was just saying the same thing about looking like people going to the beach or picnic. They should want to wear their best before God. I see in SDA churches spaghetti straps and flip flops and jeans. The church has become too worldly.

antonio binnoc yes I agree, you can't tell much difference in Christians and people in the world and in dress and behavior. It is very sad. It is like, they don't want people to think they are strange, so they want to be like them to feel accepted. I see people on different Christian channels like this one, that curse and sound like a fool.

@@EricSaavy Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. You say I have to submit to bishops? They have to submit to me too. Ephesians 5:21 Submit yourselves one to another in the fear of God. We have to study the scriptures and understand it in order to never obey men, but obey God. We not only have to submit to bishops, but to one another.

I have known a young woman for awhile. She is so out there with her looks, including tattoos. I never knew she was a Pentecostal. Over the past couple years, she has been getting into drugs, and who knows what else? Then she "comes back " to her faith. She says g-d is so good. It isn't that simple, she has to earn her way back. I am not saying salvation through works, but your works should reflect your belief.
