As an American, I can verify what Lee said as true. Most Americans have absolutely no idea about different English regional accents. You can basically chalk it up to Americans having a notoriously bad ear for accents and dialects… The only reason I know about it is because I watch a lot of British shows and movies and most Americans remain pretty insular when it comes to entertainment.
@andraspongracz59962 жыл бұрын
I don't get it: they figured it out! They agreed that her accent was very easy to understand, and there is no way someone would have difficulty with it. Sometimes decision-making is so random on this show.

That's funny I was born in Blackburn Queens Park Hospital and they pulled down our old house. How much of a dump is Blackburn? Well my mum and dad paid £80 for that house back in 1970. They got £800 for it from the council when it was pulled down and couldn't believe their luck. I love AJ's accent. My dad moved us to another dump Bradford, partly citing his dislike of the Lancastrian accent as a reason. Needless to say my father and I never got along. Live in North Yorkshire now but every time I visit Lancashire it's like coming home. ❤

Her accent is lovely, has edge of honestly about it. For me, having to change your accent to appease somebody else is pandering to a fake disability that fuels discrimination, however trivial it may seem. Still, had they got a translator in, that would of been more honest and yet been more clearer cut for what it is.
@richbuilds_com3 жыл бұрын
The further north you go the more honest they get in my experience. (Unbiased Yorkshireman speaking ;-) )

@andraspongracz59962 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use the word "appease". As a non-native speaker, I can assure you that some accents are much easier to understand than others. I have less and less trouble with this issue as I experience more and more different accents (e.g., by watching shows like wilty), but it is a problem for many people whose first language is not English. Also, speaking about disability and discrimination, not everybody is equally apt in learning foreign languages. English became the "common tongue", we are the ones who have to make the big effort to learn your language. Do you really think it is fair to ask us to also get used to all kinds of accents, as well? It is far more reasonable to ask the English speaker to adjust a little and go easy on the accent.

@ej-miranda2 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming AJ has a very strong accent because she does kinda sound different, but not enough for me to not be able to understand her. She sounds similar to Mel B to me. Lee, David, and Rob all sound the same to me and if I met them on the street I would assume it was just a generic English accent. The only UK accents that are easily identifiable to a Canadian ear are Scottish (a really strong one like Kevin Bridges is very difficult to understand) and Irish which is actually very similar to a Canadian accent!

Let me get this straight... You're such an overly-defensive Ga Ga fan that you're accusing someone who is playing a game, the object of which is literally to deceive your opponents, of being incredibly false? Isn't that the entire point of the game? Also, I would think being 'vocal' and 'conscious' is the very minimum one might expect from an interviewee. Who wants to interview an unconscious mute person?
