I can identify with a lot of these guys. I got scammed by an western girl over a period of two years, lost about $60,000 US . This girl was a real pro and I fell for her, hook, line and sinker. She could cry at the drop of a hat. I supported her and her kid for 2 years plus. I totally understand so many of these stories. It doesn’t mean as much, until you’ve been through it yourself. I wish they had drug punishment like that in the US. This place is loaded with drugs, it’s a shame , getting worse all the time. Thanks for the stories

Katie’s story was extremely moving. Previously, I would’ve been in the camp of no forgiveness and we all know what the punishments are especially in countries like Thailand. Nevertheless, a situation happened to me back in January 1989. It was my first time travelling to the Land of smiles. I spent a fortnight mostly in Bangkok and Pattaya. I met up with a large group of mostly older friends who were also from the UK. Anyhow, because I came out a day later I was returning a day later on my own. Whilst in the very lengthy queue awaiting to checking in, I got talking to a very amiable friendly couple from the midlands (Blackburn i recall) we got chatting, exchanging stories and so on. I was still on a high and naively my guard was down. As we got closer to the checking in scanning machines they asked if I would be kind enough to check in one of their bags as they had a lot of luggage. I agreed and they handed me one of their cases. They went through with theirs as I did with mine and their case. Fortunately, I wasn’t apprehended and it was all presumably ok. Thank goodness as my story my life my world would or could’ve been so very different. As I type now I’m apprehensive at the thought of what could have been. I was about to join the London Fire service on my return. I had only just been discharged from the British Army after serving 3 great years. I had my whole life a head of me. Finally, I wish to add that I’m a Black British man. I say this as when we all read stories in the news we make judgment. This is a human reaction. Unfortunately, many would’ve made a judgment that was stereotypical of a 23 year old Black guy travelling to Thailand trying to smuggle drugs or whatever. I dodged a bullet there..........Nnamdi

I wouldn’t feel too bad about it, we all make mistakes when we are young but as you say, had you have been stopped and found with drugs it would have been game over and believe me, Thailand is not the country you want to be caught with drugs on you.

True stories, if you go to Thailand just go to have fun, fun, fun, live out your fantasies and enjoy your time there when the girl is with you, she will give you all you ask for and more, it's a lovely vacation and if you play your cards right you will never forget it no matter how many times you return it will be the same even better, just look at all the girls they are everywhere, love can happen and it does, I know but remember as soon as you leave love has left the house and these girls are surviving everyday, they usually are let down by empty promises just like you if they wait you might not return, so they don't trust either.

I overheard this drug story by the person involved, when he was telling it to his friend. Anyway, he was partying in a bar on Sukhumvit Soi 33, and in the private room, he had a large dish with a variety of drugs. Somehow the Boys in Brown (BiB) were tipped off, and they raided that room. He calmly asked the boys, how much they would need to make the problem get away, after some discussion, they gave him a figure of 20,000 Euros (about 723000 THB). He made a call, and within 30 minutes someone brought a bag containing the cash. As the BiB, were about to leave with the cash, they proceeded to take the drugs, where the guy, stopped them, and said, "I've paid you for me to have the drugs here, so leave it here". They left with the cash and let him enjoy the rest of the night.

50 years!? It is shocking to see how casual so many tourists remain towards Thailand's drug policies. I was and had to stop hanging out with one guy when I found out that he would run around seeking cocaine when we'd go out in Bangkok. Many countries have exchange agreements with Thailand. After 4 to 8 years in Thai prison, the inmate is sent back to their home country to serve out their sentence. In most countries, the inmate is released after about 6 months. The U.K. is an exception, as you have to wait for a King's pardon or serve half your remaining sentence.

After a few years of marriage I was in Pattaya in walking street with my thai wife close to the police who had set up a table and were just sitting there . They were not the tourist police kind. A thai man aproached me and tried to give me something . I was I admit a bit worse for wear. We werent holding hands my wife and I so it was not immediatly obvious I had a girl with me . When she saw this thai guy offering me something from his hand she went ballistic at him . He backed off very quickly. My wife then was angry at me telling me how close I came to being set up. She saved me that night. Pattaya is a wonderful place dont get me wrong And I will keep going there. Be Vigilant be aware is my advice. I hope this is not somthing that happens every night . Just dont let your guard down is all.

I know first hand of a US Military member tried and convicted of drug smuggling from the Thailand to the USA in 1974 and was convicted and sentenced to life to imprisonment. Luckily he was pardoned by His Majesty the King in 1983. Relationships between countries have some value.

So it's taken me a while to figure this out but I think that have it. Okay so (SOME) guys go on vacation for lets say 2 to 4 weeks, maybe longer. They meet a girl or bar girl fall in love and want to maintain the relationship. Said lady see an opportunity to keep the money flowing by maintaining a relationship with the guy. Since most don't want her to work in the bars anymore they agree to provide some support. This game gets rinsed and repeated with each visitor to the Kingdom because eventually the guys catch on to the game.

If you get caught doing drugs in Thailand you will do serious time. In 2009 a British guy was jailed for 50 years for drug dealing. Stay away from drugs.

Really a touching and movie last story Peter, this happens a lot guy gets the girl to carry the drugs and then she gets caught there is no leniency even when pregnant. Guys gets away with it.. It’s wrong to carry drugs 100% and you know what will happening you get caught ,so young tho influenced by someone else. She accepted the sentence and made the best of what she could. She is lucky to have had sentence reduced. 8 more years then she can see her child maybe she will get lucky and released sooner ,I am going to read more about her case. Prison hasn’t broken her and she sounds so strong and has so much spirit.

I only discovered about the overseas boyfriends when I saw her husband and children moving out of the house for a couple of weeks because one of the money giving guys was coming in town for a visit. Needless to say, I was the bad guy when I told them they were wrong on many levels for what the mom and her family were doing. They were middle class for their neighborhood and did not need the extra money which was used for showing off with big drunken parties (which all adults in the family joined) and buying fighting cocks. I never met the Western guys or else I would have told them to save their money.

there are several books about westerners who received long sentences...some professional criminals others semi innocent travellers ( semi because they did the job but not professional maybe for a boyfriend etc ) ..there is also a ton of information on the internet about it...of what i believe to know is that after a certain minimum time they can be brought back to their home countrys where they can finish the sentence ( under more human conditions ) usualy they receive a shortened sentence there... BUT the thai courts just dished out a sentence of i believe 40 years for a thai lady who shared a video on her cellphone showing the recent protests...and it was after they halfed the sentence....!!!!! this is the real tragedy...maybe Peter could lighten up that side of the thai judical system...or the overcrowdetness in thai prisons..maybe tell us about the thai immigration prison...or what happened to street runners under thaksin ( more than 2000 shot with not much of a procedure ) ....show all facettes of the land of smiles and dont forget the grave human rights abuses of the authority's...

In Pattaya, the Lady Drink Scam has been around for decades The concept is quite simple. A punter pays 100-150 for a drink for a Girl assuming it is alcohol. Then the Bar switches the drink for water, apple Juice etc and the punter is unaware of the deception

If it was only that it wouldn't be a problem it doesn't matter to the punter what the girl is drinking as long as she stays with him for awhile if he's bought her the drink. The newer drinks scam these days is they ask you for a drink you agree but they come back with a tequila and Red Bull so you now have to pay for two drinks plus she can down the Tequila in about 5 seconds flat.

I would need to see the check stubs. They tell you hours worked as well as wages. The only problem is that they would probably not be printed in English. Which puts me back at square 1. It always puts a smile on my face when people assume that only old guys get ripped off by bar girls A lot of young guys think they're so handsome and they don't have to pay anything so they get totally ripped off more than the old guys! The young guys have no experience and are gullible. At least the older guys have experience and have less problems. Believe me I've seen it over 30 years. Many young guys who thought they were God's gift to the bar girls came home broke and with their tales between their legs.

Brits and Aussies tend to be more gentleman style in nature and from another time that was not as cynical?? Maybe... that's a better way to put it. Because when I lived there for a few years straight, me and my American friends tore Thailand up and never got ripped off. Maybe, its cuz we are more cynical by nature and we don't give these women one inch of wiggle room. We cut off that manipulation attempt immediately, before the girl even has a chance to finish her sentence🤣🤣 We don't care how pretty they are or how soft the voice is. We know all the tricks. But, me personally, I still love watching ur channel when im not out there on the hunt. I think u do a great service to all men of any nation - in that - ur stories constantly remind everyone how deadly going to Thailand can be. So, I don't want u to think that I'm saying young guys are better at this game than old guys...i think it's more, cynical cultures are much better at this game than Europeans and Aussies - who tend to be more gentleman about everything... and give way too many chances to these bar girls. But even regular Thai girls can be just as ruthless - it just depends on if their eyes start dilating when they see a 5 or 10,000baht in front of them... haha! I think I can say with confidence that I can speak on behalf of both younger guys and older guys who visit Thailand because I was 31 years old when I first arrived in the Kingdom, I’m still visiting at age 62. I think that guys who go to Thailand can be equally ripped off regardless of age! The main difference being guys who go to pay and play for fun as opposed to guys who go there looking for long term partners. The bar girls are very clever if they think a guy has fallen in love with them then they are more likely to try ripping him off as opposed to a guy who’s only spending a day or two with them. As I said in my first response I have witnessed many younger guys fall in love with Thai girls and lose all of their money it really isn’t an old man syndrome.
