If u watched the movie then you know it was way past the money. It started as true love needing to prove he’s the alpha. And ended as him not willing to risk prison time. When true love called the big brother was the very last moment it probably could have all been saved. But the brother threatened him instead of trying to make a deal, literally all true love needed to hear was I will pay u back. It was all for the sake of his ego. But the brother also had an ego and was not willing to budge. That’s why it’s called alpha dog

I grew up with most of these guys, except for Jesse Hollywood. Jesse Rugge (pronounced Roo-Gee) was one of my best friends in high-school and shortly after; until he moved to LA to live with his dad full time. The movie got a lot of the story wrong. The hotel party for example, nothing really happened other than Nick got really drunk and had to be carried to a car. He didn’t really tell anyone that he had been “kidnapped”, rather that the other guys were looking after him until his brother could come pick him up. That’s why nobody suspected anything because where we come from, that’s really common. I wasn’t at the party, but my gf at the time was along with several of my other friends, and that’s what they all said after the news broke of Nick’s body being found. It was only then did people start to piece shit together. Needless to say, I haven’t talked to most of those people since then.

This movie was so stupid because to me it was so far fetched they would take the life of this young man after showing him a pretty good time. Then you realize this was pretty accurate to real life events. So in the end, the movie wasnt stupid, the people involved were.

If johnny had just let him go,I honestly don’t think nick would of said anything to cops. If the films anything to go by, I think nick could of said that he just ran away by himself. But I don’t no how true the film is x

I dont understand how anyone was shocked at the death. The movie is built in such a way you understand that he dies. There many hints toward it, some subtle some direct. The numbering of all the witnesses should be all you needed.

I lived down the street from Hollywood, and these guys were not gang members. They had their "crew" and they sold dope to Valley kids. I never personally met Hollywood, but from growing up and living the same lifestyle (back then) going to the same school, same friends, this guy had money to run, he's just another selfish, self serving, A-Hole that grew up in the "preppy" San Fernando Valley, that got everyone he knew, to think he was a Bad MFer, probably by beating on the ones that would take it or needed his connection and dealt with him. This was NOT a BAAAD dude. He was a spoiled, no consequences, roller.... That rolled himself right up. RIP to Nick. His grave is right above my family's.

I was a sophomore in college when I discovered the film [2015], watched it like 7 times. Nick's Ma at the end [Sharon Stone] is a heartbreaking scene where she's losing it & breaking down & saying she was suicidal because of his death. Also, Cassevetes putting Eva Cassidy in the beginning of the film with all of their baby pictures & childhood videos makes me emotional because My Mom was a huge fan of Eva - whom also died young.

Rewatching this movie, it’s so sad. The part where they walk him up the hill and the guy hugs him, knowing what’s going to happen, then him finally getting what’s about to happen is heartbreaking. Him seeing his grave before they kill him tore me up. $1200 os not worth it. I get it’s the principle but it’s never that deep to go as far as kidnapping and murdering an innocent kid who trusted you and could have ran off at any point and told but didn’t.

Nah he played that part well. Even in our black criminal neighborhoods, there's always that dude who is loud and boastful, life of the party, claiming to be hood or tough, but wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight lol. Those type of dudes ends up becoming your favorite rapper or entertainer if lucky lol. So Timberlake was perfect.
