Did not remember watching or commenting on this video 3 years ago. Went to a call today, unit was partially disassembled, wire nuts and screws scattered about and could not figure out why the time clock was seemingly calling for refrigeration and defrost at the same time. Going back tomorrow with a wiring diagram and an eye for removing that brass bus bar on the timer!

There is something satisfying about cleaning the condensers on those True units... It's like a lint filter or something

ya, noted the tank wasn't inverted, no telling whats in the unit now, no big deal, pull down to 2PSI and charge it. yank the thermostat and install a new one. They are usually fixed cut in of 41F and the adjustable part is the cut out. Get it down to about 38 and slowly raise the set point till it cuts in to get a rough idea.

even if there's a light it's gonna get ignored... i put a sticker on customers walk in and ice machine bin lid to remind them to keep it tightly closed and every time I'm doing pm there the door is cracked open and the ice bin lid is wide open.
@tinman45858 жыл бұрын
i always thought of a head pressure sensor that makes a boxing glove come out of the side of unit and punches the customer every time they walk by.aA relay and a renco Hp control will do:)

man I just finished one of them true freezers today. I had to replace the fan delay/ defrost termination( it's one control. 2 in 1).. and the tough part with working on them is you can't get parts for them in Jersey. I found parts for them online only
@JamesPettinato8 жыл бұрын

Sir, I honor you. I have a comment. If there is a leak, then add refrigerant. But... if there is blockage then there will be oil migration. You had two block for heat transfer. Slugging? Refrigerant in oil? Oil in coils causing insulation to perfect heat transfer? I normally heat up the evaporator with a hair dryer for a couple hours to move that oil, then take readings as box temp falls to -10. Head pressure is key. Please advise....
@derekobidowski57846 жыл бұрын
im wondering if some freezers that don't have the defrost termination on them can be converted to a time clock that has defrost termination and wiring in a defrost termination klixon in the evaporator. as Paragon is a good mechanical time clock they have the electronic Paragon time clock but would stick with mechanical. newer supermarkets with rack systems have a computer controlling everything in the store. and mainly Walmart, their rack system uses heat reclaim for the water heaters to provide hot water to the store. , AC or Vise Versa.
@davejohnsonnola27586 жыл бұрын
Great example for the new guys.... even after checking the part number of the timer being the same, a rookie would have overlooked the brass bus bar and shorted it all out... that and the wire for wire one at at time change out. Newer guys who are cautious should be taking pictures on their phones before disconnecting anything. Wish you were still posting videos but respect your decision to stop. Be well sir!

Your right on the cleaning of the condenser, I looked at a True 1 door freezer were the compressor had failed due to constantly overheating. A sensor would be nice, at least an led light or something. Thanks again....

can u vacuum a condensor
@kingofthecrease308 жыл бұрын
your right about putting a sensor on the condenser but true & beverage air can save alot of compressors by putting an hpc safety switch on the high side. 80% of those compressors fail because the condensers are plugged up. the mfg should spend the $5 for a hpc stem switch soldered into the high side to save them compressor failures or get a self cleaning condenser coil like turbo air has
@JamesPettinato8 жыл бұрын
+kingofthecrease30 I agree, but we'll probably never see them do that, back in the 70's I was waiting for Copeland to replace their cast iron compressors with cast aluminum, they would be light, ...thanks

CO2 cheaper than nitrogen for blowing out the coils? Do you use a regulator? to what pressure? or just regulate it with the hand valve?
@sjefoekel60588 жыл бұрын
Nice work, those clocks i dont come across much here everything is digital even on the true refrigerators. Last one I saw those was on a walk in freezer from teh 70 ies, it had a pressure connection on it as a defrost termination control. Did you end up defrosting that evap? Always a pain in the a***. I did notice that the compressor on that freezer was a Aspera those are not the kind i did expect on a True. I would expect something better like a copeland or tecumseh

+sjef oekel I remember those pressure defrost termination Paragon time clocks, thanks

My True freezer has three cond fans,and one fan shuts off . It gets over heated ,then only shuts the one fan. The freezer doesn't stay at right temp. I replaced the bad fan ,but it shuts off after five minutes . The other two fans run fine Any ideas ?

Just cause a defrost timer spins does not mean it is working correctly. I do commercial Refrigeration it could have bad contacts in it there are a multitude of issues it could be. Paragons are fairly simple now grasslin are a whole nother story
