I think the sentence was a bit harsh but I don’t believe for a second that he didn’t realise they were planning something bad. I don’t care how hungover he was. This was not just about "no car no crime" , but the fact is he overheard their conversation. He was sober enough to hear a LOT , with details. They had a plan , transportation, and tool/accessories (bandana.) -which increase the probability of them going to commit a crime.Just by doing nothing , he was found guilty. He was convicted because they spoke of a crime before he let someone borrow his vehicle! That’s along the lines of criminal conspiracy. Someone died in the act of said crime and he was convicted. It’s not hard to believe.

So glad he is free now because this case was absolutely ridiculous. So, I guess Uber and Lyft drivers or any forms of transportation employees are at risk of aiding in a crime for driving the criminals to their destination????

The problem I see with the American justice system, as opposed to our justice system in Sweden, is that you have: 1) People with no legal background deciding whether someone is guilty. 2) The already inexperienced jury decides whether someone is guilty or not based on what they believe. Not based on what the evidence say necessarily while we do not have that here. Here, it matters not whether someone did it or not, or whether you believe they did, it matters only what you can prove.
