@@scottyg262 False. JHF was considered the best player in the draft at the end of the draft process. Ashcroft would have gone number 1 yes, but even though it's too early to tell, in a redraft Sheezel would go #1.

@@eggeggeggeggeggeggeggegg Mate...you know and l know Daicos was the No.1 player in 2021 draft and only Covid stopped Daicos from being the clear No.1 in all draft boards plus being a father/son prospect. North never took Daicos as they wanted the 10K bonus to go to JHF for being No.1 but if the draft was open, North would have taken Daicos in a heartbeat!

As a hawks fan, he is exactly what our midfield needs. (we lack big bodied mids) But, if Melbourne offered pick 5 ,6, 15 and 25 that is serious currency in any draft and would need to be considered. I really hope we are not tanking* to try to get him. * We are obviously not picking our best side every week as we need to find out what the kids are like with 20-30 games under their belt, as long as that is the focus, I do not think that is tanking.

Oh I'm a hawk and trust me they are tanking AT THE SELECTION TABLE! Last 2 weeks we loose by 1 kick to top teams! Then Sam does 5 changes! Now I'm not against bringing in Lewis ramma wedds and wardy but leaving out cam and scrimma is tanking! Everyone no's the Irishman worpal Morrison and several others have been playing for 3 years and still no impact! The Irishman played his first good game in 3 years but keeps getting games the same with others! There not the future cam scrimma McDonald are! But I want pick one so go ahead hawk's and tank! Reed will complete the build just need 2 trades a key forward and back! Reed is a freak!

I think Hawks are the best chance to get him and keep him. They're already well underway in their rebuild so a team like Melbourne offering them multiple picks for pick 1 wont be as enticing (I know I'm assuming Hawks will finish last this season, but I think that's a safe bet). Roos are an interesting one and I think they'll definitely want him and he would help move them up the ladder quickly. I don't think they're as reliant on him though. I genuinely think Gold Coast and to a lesser extent GWS need him, but wont get him. I don't see player retention improving at either club and once Tassie comes in there will be a few years of the draft being compromised so Tassie can build. What are your thoughts on the AFL giving these clubs another round preferential draft treatment before Tassie comes in? I think the AFL needs their current expansion clubs to be set up for success before moving onto the next one

as a hawthorn fan, i think Hes an absolute gun but our midfield doesn't need him. Newcombe, day, ward, Mackenzie they aren't bad they're just young. They just need age. Its our forward line that needs bolstering and from what ive seen ashton moir is a perfect fit. Hoping we nab him at pick 2-4

This guy is not just a midfielder. Great overhead mark and reads the game well and loves the big moments so can play across all lines, did l mention that he kicked over 100 goals in under 14s 😂

Hawks Supporter. My opinion is, if we finish bottom. Trade #1 for as many first round picks as possible. I’ve seen lots of the kids in the top 10 and I’d be happy t have 2 or 3 over just the 1. Having said that. The kid does look great.

as a west coast supporter I really hope we get him the kid is a gun and future brownlow medalist and as for the go home factor west coast has never had a problem with that in the past and I think the club would back themselves in if we had the number 1 draft pick

The number 1 draft pick over the last 20 years besides Hodgey and Nick Riewoldt hasn't been worth it. Besides Hodge, none have won a premiership and besides the two just mentioned none have or will make the hall of fame. Reynor and Ashcroft are looking good but still.....if I'm west coast id Glady swap pick one for two picks in the top 10

WCE.... pick 4 + 12 and future first round is what we need for the rebuild before Tassie takes the draft concessions.. or obviously pick 5+6 and future something or other. 1 player won't save us, but if we can't draft for our needs (key forward) (maybe another mid) then we should take Reid and hope for the best....... I'm hoping we trade the pick.......

Its already a race to the bottom. Hawks are resting guys for the Dockers game. So Freo will probably. win. Eagles can't help it, but have 18 injuries. North hopelessly out of form as Clarkson is revamping their style during the year. So you have the Hawks and Roos deliberately trying to finish last to get Reid. Eagles will be tempted to get three guys in instead. But depends on the footy intelligence of who they want and who will be available. My concern with Reid is that he's a man child and is very powerful for his age Take that away from him because in seniors everyone is strong and they will catch up with strength. Also would Reid as a Melbourne kid just want to return to Melbourne. Pity that apparently it drops a lot below Reid. But thats a bit strange considering they were calling it a super draft only 4 months ago.

Isaac Heeney slid to pick 2!!!! And what you forget is the financial benefits that go with pick 1 and if bid on a player like Adelaide did with Ugle-Hagen they actually cost Thilthorpe that !!

Another point worthy of consideration for North is that depending on how Ben McKay pans out. North could get a compensation pick as high ad top 12 first round pick. So that's 3 first round picks (potentially) and they could delve into next year's picks however they want. Not saying they throw the literal war chest of picks. But 3 first round picks for a pick 1. It's around the mark.

Think if WC finish last will look to trade out for 2 first rounders with either Dees, WB or North. Suspect North will keep theirs for forwards/defenders. Bulldogs would love him as a replacement for Dunkley but agree Melbourne's in box seat.

West coast wouldn’t draft him. They’d hope to get 3 firsts back. Which is why finishing last is so important to WC. They wouldn’t get anywhere near as much back for the second pick and no WA prospect is rated that highly.
