Fun fact: early in the production of the doom eternal soundtrack they said he wasnt allowed to use a guitar so that he could spice it up it up bit so instead he used a chainsaw and a lawn mower in a lot of songs as a replacement however he was struggling to make good songs so they eventually said he could use a guitar, in some songs in the soundtrack such as cultist base he still used the sounds of the chainsaw and the lawnmower

The coolest thing about the Doom eternal soundtrack is that Bethesda challenged Mr. Gordon to use something other than a guitar as a main instrument for some of the songs, and he took the challenge and used a chainsaw.
@ottonormal33542 жыл бұрын
It was more a decission of the sales department, they said, game music with e-guitars are not selling, so they wanted a soundtrack without one. I guess we all can say, he delivered the most badass guitar sound without one.

@Kevin-jb2pv Жыл бұрын
I think that was more the case for 2016. AFAIK Mick Gordon was not shouldered with the same "no guitars" requirements for Eternal. Originally, 2016 was supposed to be strictly no guitars, but it wasn't sounding right, so he finally just started adding guitar back in here and there and id liked it. Since 2016's sound track was such a smash hit, they dropped the no guitar BS and let him go all in with them. That's why 2016 has kind of a dub-steppy, techno-ish kind of sound with guitars layered on top, while Eternal is much more heavy metal.

@Viktor Soerensen it has “the sound” in it the sound used to represent argent energy in the soundtrack. I call it doom synth. It has the doom synth in it which means it the doom machine was used. Boys! You missed your chance! The composer, Mick Gordon, made his own mix to the song (this is the official mix made by the studio). His mix isn’t nearly as repetitive, and has some rad sections that were cut from this one entirely. Still, awesome that you guys got around to this! The recent doom games have revitalized and popularized metal music. Doom 2016 even won soundtrack of the year (Doom Eternal was robbed last year, should’ve been a repeat)
@Impalingthorn3 жыл бұрын
Seconded. The Mick mixes are ALWAYS better than studio mixes. Problem with his music is that it's deliberately designed to be constructed part by part separately, meaning when he hands files over to other people, rather than it being a single piece of music, it's a bunch of different segments people have to slap together in a way they THINK sounds good. This works well in game because if combat is intense, the music gets more intense, and if things are calming down then the tracks can cut to the bridge and so on so forth. When just listening to some rando on KZbin though, the channel themselves (or the Id team in this case) has to decide how to mix these different segments. ... And then almost always a few weeks after fan mixes are made, Mick comes out with the official mix which not only sounds and rolls better, but includes parts you haven't even heard yet.

Y'all somebody needs to send this to Mick. The beardyman in the black looks like he's having a goddamn spiritual awakening throughout the whole song and it's just.... *so satisfying* as a hardcore fan seeing someone else get absolutely slammed by this track the way I was, it's like living it for the first time all over again and I can only imagine how nuts it feels as the artist to watch a reaction like that.

The thing that makes the Mick Gordon soundtracks so outstanding and exceptional is not just the guitars, chainsaws and lawnmowers (yes, he incorporated a lawnmower into the soundtrack, we vibin' to power tools baby), it's the ambience that builds up the suspension and makes the metal elements shine so much more. The soundtracks are masterpieces.

"It's good driving music" No, it's good demon stomping music. It's perfect for what it is for. Getting you pumped and aggressive. That's why it is also good for Driving and Work Outs. It's technically even better in the game because it is more dynamic than just listening to the track. More demons = more aggressive. You should react to a few more. BFG Division is also epic
@TSotP3 жыл бұрын
@@repentofyoursinsandbelieve629 yeah, whatever dude. It's been 2000+ years and he still hasn't come back. This is also ignoring the fact that Jesus only had one comandment (not plural). It was his daddy that gave the multiple ones to Moses. Jesus redacted most of them and replaced them with "Do unto others as you would have then do unto you." Fuck, you would think someone who spouts stuff like this to strangers on the Internet, would have their facts correct.
