Wow this technique to get out of bunkers is amazing!!! Started to struggle with inconsistency out of them whether it was soft fluffy sand or hard compact sand. Have practiced this in a number of different bunkers with low lips and high lips and soft, hard sand. Using my 54 10S with this technique I got out of the bunkers 100% of the time! Technique was so easy to take to the course and feels very intuitive. Opening the face, wide stance, low hands and a long fast swing just became bladeville or hitting them fat and the ball going nowhere! Hopefully it wasn't a one off and it continues to work every time I am in a bunker ;) So glad I found this video!

Man I would love the K grind that all the tour pros are getting with less bounce but some leading edge and trailing edge relief

The "Low Bounce" K Grind - 06° Bounce - is readily available through Vokey WedgeWorks. Lots of "No Upcharge" Shaft Options, and various Grips can be ordered also. I recently replaced a 58° - 06° K Grind with a SM9 58° - 04° T Grind.

I bought the 58 K Grind. Played a round then immediately regretted it. Too short, too long - frustrating. Then I went to the range bunker and tried a more square face/stance - pop it up and don't worry about spin. Magic. Exactly why I bought it after having too much roll out with my previous 54F - I just had to open it up too much on short siders. Going to have to do more work to get used to it but I feel like this, and a new 54S can simplify the game with square face control vs open face skull/sliding under the ball risk. 12 handicap.

Anyone else notice The student was closer to the pin than the teacher from the jump? 😂

Would you still go with the K grind for compacted sand bunkers like at a public course?

It would depend on how steep you are with your angle of attack and how effectively you can use bounce. You can still hit quality sand shots with a full sole and high bounce. However, you can also vary the grind and bounce in your wedge set so that you have options for different shot types, and lies.

How much behind the ball are you hitting with that technique? And does it change when there is more or less sand? Thanks😊

He is hitting about an inch and a half behind the ball. Strike distance behind the ball doesn’t change all that much just face angles through impact to use either leading edge or bounce.
