Pat Bergeson visits the Truetone Lounge to talk guitar and to share his experiences as a veteran touring and studio musician. Besides his past work with Chet Atkins, Lyle Lovett, Wynonna, and Madeleine Peyroux, Pat shares of his recent work with guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel, and touring with Les Brers, a group of former Allman Brothers that includes Butch Trucks, Jack Pearson, Otiel, and Jaimoe. Throughout the episode, Pat’s playing and tone demonstrate why he has continued to be an in-demand guitarist in Nashville.

I just re-watched this interview for like the fourth or fifth time. I only wish this interview was another hour or so longer. There is simply not enough Pat Bergeson on the Internet! (I just bought his Mel Bay dvd... Like 37mins ago.) Also, as a mostly clean, single-coil player myself, this interview introduced me to your Clean Boost and your updated H2O. Love the what that Clean Boost does!

The Mel Bay DVD is great, and thank you for the kind words. Pat dials in a great sound using the H2O and Clean boost. He leaves the Clean Boost on all the time to fatten up his tone. Zac

Pat is so low key, despite his huge talent I didn't know him until that five player session with Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, Guthrie Trap, and Brian Cotton, but I watch every video of him performing now.

I saw Pat and Richard Smith (just the two of them) at the old Canal Street Tavern in Dayton, and told them after the show they just sent me to guitar heaven…which was true. He was playing an old Epi archtop and Richard the usual nylon string. Just great players and seemed nice guys, although didn’t want to pester them on a tiring road trip. They also played the same club with the Hot Club of Nashville (no vocals) and just phenomenal Django playing. Pat’s one of those players that can really emotionally hit you : )

What an honor to be asked by Chet himself to come to Nashville to record with him!! When it comes to Chet using pedals that is a bit of a sore spot with me. Chet's playing was so technically brilliant , melodic and PURE that in my humble little opinion Chet didn't NEED to spice up his sound with effects pedals. Especially that obnoxious sounding distortion which has this magical ability to make the most expensive custom shop guitar sound like absolute garbage. I know Chet was trying to sound modern and hip but........ Well Pat didn't receive a CGP but he certainly should have so I will nominate him for a CNP (Certified Nashville Picker) right here and now. Tremendous player.

Really nice playing, by a hyper- versatile lyrical player. Another great informative interview. However, listening to some of Pat's delay/vibrato pedal sounds make me feel ill (seriously). Oh well, different strokes for different folks, and all that. He is real pro player nonetheless.
