I remember watching my dad and I play MK9 being 11 I couldnt do much at a certain point in the game. Then we encountered final Shao Kahn (keep in mind my dad was working graveyards at this point in life) He always woke up an hour or 2 before I went to bed for school and we sat together playing and trying to learn the boss. For 1 month we struggled, fought and bled against this monster. 1 night I woke to him on his day off turning on the PS3 and going for it with all the determination a man could have. All they had to do for shinnok in gameplay is give him 250-300% life bar to make him harder than shao Kahn but they didn’t and they didn’t for any other boss after khan in mk3 either. Onaga sort of had that but that was it. They sort of redeemed shinnok in mkx gameplay A LITTLE BIT. His life bar is normal but his attack power was higher than shao Kahn’s was in mk9. All shinnok needs to do is a quick combo and the fire amulet blast and another combo and you’re already dead which he does do on very hard mode. They. Red to give him armor tho he is an elder god and every other boss roo need a higher life bar

Just ducking, with or without blocking, doesn't work. HOWEVER, you can duck under it if you time a strong kick (4) because when you kick while ducking, your hitbox becomes smaller. It's a kinda precise timing, though

what I remember about shao khan in mk9 is that his hammer toss’s stun is longer than it’s startup time, so he can spam this move and stun lock you indefinitely (but thank god the AI doesn’t do this)

With Lui Kang just keep spamming Low Fireball, if timed right it can duck both his spear and hammer. Whenever he gets close use your flying kick to knock him back. With Raiden run away, teleport when he throws a spear or hammer and uppercut then run away again. If he taunts, teleport and uppercut. If he gets to close block until he taunts and use electric fly to get back at range.

I suspect MK2 (the old Midway one that is) Shao Kahn was probably more broken then this one but that's true for all classic fighting game bosses. MK9 is fairly recent so works under different rule set.

Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat Trilogy on Playstation was crazy hard. He was just dumb! He would do 2 moves immediately after each other. There was no cool down between special moves. He would throw the spear and immediately do a shoulder charge or do 2 shoulder charges back to back. A lot of people may not remember or even played it because it's so old.

Crouch block till he shoulder bashes or jump knees. Then uppercut. You can run up on him before he gets up and uppercut again. Repeat till he gets up and block again till you can repeat the process.

Actually, there is a way to counter the hammer throw. You have to be using smoke though, otherwise this won't work. When he decides to throw his hammer, activate your shake ability and you will instantly counter it the moment it hits you. The move works on all projectiles.

I used to beat him on very hard using a strategy, Raiden's teleport is so fast that i think is one of the only moves that let you avoid shao kahn's from up close (if you're able to read the attacks), and then counter attack him

Mk2!? Seriously ? Have you played mk3 or umk3 or triology before which essentially are all diff versions of mk3. He is faster and stronger in those games and in mk2 he had moments he would walk to you and allowing you to give you time wne in mk3 he goes all out hard tackles you AND he has the upwards knee tackle which messes you up even if you’re jumping whicu he lacked that move in mk2. Mk2 shao Kahn was a cake walk compared to mk3 umk3 and triology shaonkahn. He has his spear replaced with his eye blast which is faster and the added upwards knee and he’s just faster and more savage at attacking in mk3 and mk2 at least sort of gives you a break mk3 Kahn tends to abuse you into a corner more than mk2 and he goes all out attacking not giving you a chance to attack. Also I think mk3 is the game that introduced his hammer which in unblockable In mk3 I think or at least stuns you. He has more moves and unrestricted in mk3 and in mk2 he taunts you ALOT MORE than he does in mk3 it actually gives you time to stall or finish him I!n mk2 in mk3 he doesn’t lol. Wne this is all considering you can combo him in mk3 and not in 2 and yet mk3 is stilll harder for Kahn. Kintaro seemed a lot harder in mk2. In mk3 motaro seemed almost as hard but only bcuz Kahn is harder here nkt bcux motaro is necessarily easy.

Onaga is pretty op in Deception too. In that game you are only allowed to do three launchers, more than that or the game pushes you back, or throws the opponent to the ground, so that he can get up and not stay in the air infinitely. However, Onaga can break this rule. See, he has an overhead that is a launcher and a three-hit combo that ends with a launcher as well. If you use Overhead and then the three-hit combo, the opponent will be thrown very high, causing the game to push him back. However, since Onaga is big and fast, he can get close to the opponents before they fall to the ground, leaving them vulnerable to any attack. With this he can repeat the launcher again and again, leaving the opponent in the air infinitely. The only way for the opponent to defend himself is to use a breaker. He also has a low attack that knocks you to the ground and covers almost half the screen. Is safe on block ,so the only ways to defend against this attack is to try to hit him first, side step (which I don't recommend), or block (which is the safest).

Video idea: The most creative guest character ever made. Kratos in MK9 included a lot of the weapons and abilities from the games, but even more than that, he had QTEs in his attack strings! I mean how cool is that? As far as I'm aware, that's never been the case in another NetherRealm game! I mean Injustice and MKX had chain inputs on some attacks, but Kratos' were full on quick time events with button prompts flashing on screen and almost cinematic looking attacks! And since he was console exclusive, it gives players who only played xbox insight on a character they may know almost nothing about!

I know this is obvious because you're not supposed to be able to play as Shao Kahn, but I've never seen his move list with the directional inputs, and I've seen quite a few mod videos for Mortal Kombat 9 and none of them looked at the move list, not even for the sake of the video, so I just assumed that there was no moves in the move list and the players just had to guess the inputs, but im glad the inputs are here.

Shao Kahn literally counters fundamental knowledge, he's throw immune, he's armored on nearly everything, and he has about two or three health bars worth of HP. The most consistent way to beat him is to hit him while he's taunting you. It's the same as when a boss in other video games is only vulnerable when their glowing weak spot is out, and while that's good for other games, it's beyond sub-par for the fighting game genre which is based on fundamentals and good neutral, neither of which does any good against Shao Kahn. It's literally just hit him while he's taunting and then do the highest damage combo you know, then avoid him the rest of the time.

I remember shao Khan being tough to beat on MK9. But I figured out how to beat him easily on the hardest difficulty. Try to get him on the left side of the corner. It's best done with a character like johnny cage. Since he has a shadow kick. Once he's in the corner he will do a shoulder charge, hammer toss or taunt. If he does a hammer toss jump over It and upper cut him. He then get up and throw his hammer again jump over it and upper cut him again. Not sure if it's a glitch but that's how I remember beating him.

Raiden is op against him. All he has to do is teleport as soon as Shao Kahn attacks. The attacks are usually slow enough for you to land an uppercut. The armour doesn't knock him down so you can go for another uppercut. Keep doing this and Shao doesn't even know what to do.

This is one of the two hacks I have found in this fight. The other one is Liu Kang's low fireball. Shao Kahn just sits there and eats all of them or blocks them. If the throws the hammer you jump over it, otherwise you just keep spamming.

Raiden was good (and thank fuck he was the one you got to play as when taking on Shao Khan hard mode in the story) However that stat you mentioned is even easier on Smoke, his teleport is just as fast as Raiden’s but it goes right into a punch

@@trex8523 it takes slightly longer becuse it does less damage but for a teleport that has a punch build into it makes it faster and arguably easier I think the only time I was able to do the challenge tower on expert without fail or needing to swap specifically for Kintaro’s/Shao Khan’s armour shenadagins was my run with Smoke and Scorpion, since both had the teleport. And the X Ray if it landed was less devastating in a dual character game.

First time I played as Shao Kahn was in MK3 for the SNES via a cheat menu. He was basically the same from MK2 and fought the same too but the new run button made him a lot easier to beat ot just plain easy or normal. But he was still nerfed since he could spam almost every attack since they have very little recovery time but he chooses not to. But when you control him, that was madness. There is no way to lose to anyone if you are Shao Kahn. In MK Trilogy although he is a very legally pickable character he is banned from any competition.

The first time I got hit with the Hammer Throw was literally jarring. It was the first time I ran into an unblockable attack in the game and didn't know what was going on at first. As the video said, you got use to blocking so when he started the match by throwing the hammer I stood my ground only to find my character stunned in place as Kahn scored a free hit off of me. That reminds me of something - i discovered a cheat code on discord for Neo Geo Battle Coliseum(japan version) and the code works(had to decrypt the code first). The code works in training mode and i had to use the controller for the second player. I set the cpu to move. Now i discovered an infinite for King Leo. Just like shao kahn, King Leo recovers almost instantly from Hunter Killer. SNK put the limits on King Leo. He is not allowed to use Hunter Killer more than once in the same combo but as a player you ABSOLUTELY can. The move is an overhead. The game won't let him loop it

You've forgotten one aspect the boss version of Shao Kahn gets but which doesn't seem to be baked into the character as it doesn't appear here, he can randomly activate super armor for his command normals. Waaay back when I played this game and wasn't much of a fighting game player this easily frustrated me the most.

@@elgordobondiola Well, if he's in any attack animation and the armor activated you can't. He flashes white when that's the case. As I said, this superarmor activates randomly. The other two bosses, Goro and Kintaro, have this too but funnily enough, even as a fighting game n00b I never struggled against them nearly as much as against Shao Kahn. However, Shao Kahn also has a pretty bad weakness against projectile spam, so you could always just stay at the edge of the screen and shoot him to death, only occasionally taking damage if he threw his spear. This worked because his AI left huge gaps between attacks.

The way I learned to beat Shao Kahn in Klassic Tower was to use Jax. He was, as far as I know, the only character able to duck under the hammer completely. He also had a full screen projectile and the target option on ground pound to catch him low every once in a while. I was like 11 when I was last able to play MK9 so I wasnt as good at fighting games as I am now so he was always my worst nightmare. Usually me and my cousin were able to beat him together on tag though.

All you have to go to beat Shao Kahn is run away until he dudes a projectile then teleport behind him and do the square triangle square triangle combo, rinse repeat. I literally beat him for the first time last night.

Shao Kahn in Mk9 on Expert is a cakewalk for me My main can slide under this attack from point blank range and mid screen for a punish. It has too much wind up to not see coming. It's a crazy infinite though.

I observed him in MK 2 or 3 I don't remember, the final boss laughs and mocks the player to give him time to attack, Same in MK 4 Goro start beating his chest to give some time to player to finish him off...

Jinpachi in Tekken 5 is actually unbeatable too. You can play him with an action replay code and one of his stuns is simply too fast (and of course unblockable and extremely wide for good measure). So he is only beatable because the AI is restricted not to use that too much.
