Love this so much! My Dee (Daddy) bought one exactly like this, new, in 1969 from Sears in Winston-Salem, NC. Dee passed away in 2018 and I had an auction afterward, where his beloved 10XL was sold to a lucky buyer. I needed to split all of Dee's stuff with my sisters and the auction was the fair way to do it. Congratulations on your jewel - it really does look exactly (condition and everything) like Dee's - just missing the mowing deck that I accidentally cracked over a hickory stump at age eight or so (long story), but he had it welded back together and fixed. Enjoy this great old tractor!

I'd like to see that too. The only thing I've seen him do was put a seat in a carbatrator and Taryl was fussing at him then lol. I'd like to see him do a total rebuild on something for sure!

I'm still using my 30 year old Wheel Horse! I also have a 20 and 15 year old WH's as well at my other properties. See a trend!lol! One of my neighbors has gone through 2 newer tractors in the same period and marvels at how mine just keeps running and cutting. Then again...I actually do MAINTENANCE on it(the horror) whereas he just takes his in when something breaks.

Makes sense because you can't buy "tecumes/crapsman" (@tarylfixesall) solid state ignition parts anymore from a parts dealer, and if you find good used ones, they're like $400+ on eBay. Just go for a nova II ignition module. They're a dime a dozen, and work great as long as you retard the timing of the coil by a few degrees.

I watched this last winter for says at a time, Taryl actually helped me, had a video with an airway and covered with a plug under the throttle screw, I took it back off the engine and pulled the plug and there was a piece of some black stuff, got it out and voilaaaa.

I love these old Sears tractors, I had the model that was orange and white. These tractors are tough. High and low range transmissions, built for real work. The Tecumseh engines came with Timken roller main bearings for long service life. This tractor today would cost a TON to buy brand new because it was built to last!! Great find Slippers!

I didn't think Slipper knew anything about mechanics, He looks like he's doing alright and he knows a lot of the nomenclatures and terminology. I worked with guys at a big company that didn't have that much on the ball. Good luck Slipper and I think you'll have a machine that you'll be proud of and worth the effort. Cool series I own a old SEARS suburban 12hp tractor, they're were built like a Sherman tank back then & have a REAL gearbox! Mine has a larger solid front axle. You rock Slippers! 😊

My dad bought a 10 horse power sears, plow, disk in 69 it was a beast, only problem was the deck, if I remember it was cast, you hit something big chunks would break off, he put in large gardens it had a high and low range, we would stand on the back pulling that one bottom plow

I like giving stuff back to the customer looking as good as it can. Plus, I don't like working on filthy stuff when it's avoidable. Don't get to see a lot of Tecumish "motors". ;)

Taryl, have you ever done a video on a quakasaki FA130D. . i got the engine for my cement mixer out the other day, replaced the air filter that disintegrated when i touched it, i had stored it with the petrol empty, it took a few dozen pulls on the rope before it sprang to life, i think i will do as slippers is doing and clean and rebuild it now my concreting is done, not bad after 8 years sitting on a shelf.
