I just ordered the Slippers Bundle from the Big Cartel link above. I've suspected for some time that Slippers provides many of the character acting roles that make the skits fun to watch on this channel. Hopefully we can get some autographed bobbleheads of Slippers for sale some day so that I can add to my collection along with Taryl's that I already have.

Same here, but when I ran into a steering adjuster on my son's old 4x4 truck, and heating alone did not do it- I heated it again and quenched it (remembering Taryl's trick) It came loose, similarly the gear oil plug in the rear end was froze, again I used the heat / quench trick- it was actually hand tight after the quench. In neither case did I heat the parts red though, just up past the smoke level a bit. Thanks Taryl !!

Hey Taryl what heat an Quinch is actually happening is the heat expands everything then the water immediately shrinks it starting from the outside first so it stretches it. So you basically you slightly stretched the outer fitting by shrinking it over the still expanded inner fitting. Cool huh? works for press fit sleeves too.

Hey Slippers and Taryl, what is your opinion on fogging an engine when you store it for the season. I usually drain the tank and carb bowl. Is it better? I live in Illinois so the climate is similar to yours in Indiana. Should I start doing this with my equipment? The dealer does it for my boat when I store it for the season. When I saw how clean the piston was w a dot in the center it occurred to me someone had been in there already, got a JD110 & when I jerked the head off to put a new gasket on it I saw a really nice cross hatch & a dot in the center of the piston, just got a free Kohler from a 212 that was rebuilt by Kohler as well. It’s not uncommon to find someone had rebuilt the motor.

I’ve heard when engines have a compression release, and you take a compression test. It will not give an accurate pressure?
@vincenthiggins60914 жыл бұрын
a high torque low speed drill just might do the trick. adjust the speed on the grill to where you can no longer hear the compression release working the valve.
@danielprivate74424 жыл бұрын
The compression release is timed on the cam so that it releases the pressure after peak compression in the stroke, at which point the tester has already taken the reading.
@vincenthiggins60914 жыл бұрын
@@danielprivate7442 shows what I know I thought it was doing it before top dead center.
@danielprivate74424 жыл бұрын
@@vincenthiggins6091 At 16:22 Taryl shows where the compression release pin is located on the cam, just about directly opposed from the open position on the lobe. This means the valve is able to momentarily close completely (allowing peak compression) before it is bumped open by the pin during no-fire cranking.

Teryl, when using a pipe wrench it is important to not distort the pipe that you are removing. its called a 3 point bite, you used it when you removed the pipe fitting but not the nipple. The nipple deformed (egg shape) and locked itself into the block. love your videos,, steve
