Purchased a Juliette from Miss Chris on my birthday, Feb 25th. It's flushing new branches, and I can't wait to sample the fruit in the near future. 🙏

does anyone know about when orange essence or sugar loaf is in season?

Orange Essence 🥭 is considered a late season variety

I had two Jakarta mangos from my tour June 15 and man I want to special order more. Thick n juicy sweet fiberless meat with smaller sized seed. Able to cut CHUNKS of mango meat. So I guess I’ll be back on 95south.

I thought this was a taste test video but you’re turning it into the trees

Hi Chris, what cultivars do you recommend to plant for a late season mango? I'm loaded in June but have nothing come July or August!

I've been thinking about the same thing. I'm planning to top work keitt onto one of my trees for a late season cultivar.

Orange Essence and M-4 are two new varieties to consider. Neelum and Beverly are also on the list. Kent and Keitt used to be great for late season, but especially Kent has problems now.

@@TrulyTropical I appreciate the quick reply Chris. Guess I need to get my hands on an M-4 here on the west coast of FL! Keep up the great content!

Do mangos in South Florida mature sooner than West Florida? The Valencia Pride and lemon meringue in Tampa area are still green, yet south Florida has ripe fruit

I have seen trees of the same variety in the same yard yield fruit weeks apart, not sure why that can happen, specially if they were pruned at the same time and, watered etc. I used to have a VP, but lost it a couple years back. ( Hurricane ) and it would generally have mangoes around late July. my Pickering was a bit earlier this year, even my Edgar are done.

At Truly Tropical.. most mango varieties are ready to pick at least two weeks before they are at other groves on this coast

Among Carrie, Julie, Angie and Juliette, Juliette takes the top spot. All these four have somewhat similar very sweet complex Indian mangoes flavor. In my personal opinion, I would rate these four in the order they are written. Jakarta is also very good solid mango. On my 1-10 scale (10 means the best), ValCarrie scores 11. Alphonso, Kesar disappointed me big time.

I have always heard good things about the ValCarrie, Carrie and Valencia pride, two great tasting mangoes on their own. if the Valcarrie has the best of both, that would be a dream come true. the Kesar this season in the D.R. have not been up to par, with previous seasons. the trees I got them from this year, I believe were over irrigated. so they were watered down. I think you really need dry weather for Kesar once the mangoes are maturing on the tree. I know Florida has had a lot of rain this year. so this could be the reason.

Why are there never self-pollinated varieties, e.g., Haden pollinated by Haden?
@agriperma5 жыл бұрын
Cross pollination is only needed by breeders that are attempting to create a new variety. once the breeder has the results they are looking for, and after a lot of evaluation they might name it and release it to public. you do not need another mango tree around just to have fruit from the tree. Haden, no matter what pollinates it ( even itself ) will produce Haden fruit, but if you plant the seed, you will most likely get something different. by the way, Haden is the father of many of other varieties. and Haden itself comes from a Mulgoba/Turpentine cross.
