That is incredible how quickly the fruit oxidizes.

Thank you so much for these videos. I live in the Caribbean and find that it is very hard to find any good information on the not so common tropical fruits. I am raising a small black sapote tree so hopefully, in 2-3 years i can try the fruit too. :)

Do you have experience with seedling black sapote or are all of yours grafted cultivars?
@Jahmastasunherbalist6 жыл бұрын
tohopes seedling have a decent chance of being good quality and fruit quickly in 3-5 years. Usually grafted varieties should have a slight chocolate and sweet taste. If your seedling shas both you got a winner.

One of our mature trees is a seedling, and one is grafted. There's very little difference in flavor. We're planting some other grafted Black Sapote trees so that we can offer more variety in the future.

Would love to see a comparison taste test of different cultivars even if they taste the same!

Does the bigger varieties require a lot more time to ripen?
@TrulyTropical6 жыл бұрын
It seems like there's quite a range even on the same tree. However certain varieties like Reinecke (Merida) have a short season.

What varieties of black sapote are you guys growing?
@TrulyTropical6 жыл бұрын
The only named variety is a small 'Merida' (aka Reineke) tree.

Did you try fruit from any of Australian selections e.g. Bernicker or Superb? I see Reineke is rated as sweet but I am yet to find Reineke that produces sweet fruit.
