Truma Gas Heater on Supreme Classic Caravan

I have just had a Truma installed into my Jayco a couple of days ago and I have the Control Panel in the same spot where the one is in your video. Where / how did you connect the control panel wiring so it maintains its settings even when the 12v power has been switched off - is it run somehow direct to the caravan battery ? Appreciate your advice as my gas plumber initially wired it up to the heater unit but it blew the fuse after about 10mins so he has bypassed the unit somehow. The first time I turn on the control panel after activating our 12V power in the van, I have to reset the clock each time - not a biggie but would be great if the panel could retain the clock settings.
