Thank you for providing an excellent explanation of the problem and how it was fixed! We are getting the same error code on a different model, Truma, on a different make of RV. We are in on our seventh RV since 1999. Learning that it was a manufacturer's sloppy work on the build is consistent with that being the source of most RV problems. Over 95% of our RV repairs have been directly linked to the manufacturer's lack of quality work.

Lifesaver! Makes so much sense now you say it. We’re in Spain, no problem other that when we’re camping at altitude and try to ignite in morning below zero Celsius. Later in day when it warms up no problem again. Thanks again

Finally! A video to explain this issue. Nothing on the internet about this. I too have been taking my cover off. I'll try and prop it up aswell. Brilliant. Would love to know exactly where to seal tho?

Yes I searched and searched and searched when I had the problem and couldn’t find anything either. That’s why I put this out there because it seems to be a very common issue. I didn’t see them seal it but I believe it is between the unit and the metal exhaust section. But now that mines working I don’t want to mess with it to investigate that. I would see if you can see the gap now and that would be where to seal once propped up.

Hey mate, this is awesome. We have had our Emu just for 2 months & exactly the same problem; I'll be showing this video to the dealership; I will let you know if this was the same fault. Thanks😊

No problem, hopefully you get it sorted. In the mean time check out my video on the temporary work around as it took three months for my booking for warranty in regional WA. Not the fault of Emu, that was the local Truma warranty place. So if you can’t get it sorted but are doing trips on the weekends or for Easter it might be worth having a go at that in the meantime. Also if the workaround gets it going it’s almost certainly the same issue as mine.

Look up burping the gas bottle. Something to do with resetting the regulator. Also I think that when cracking a fresh gas cylinder the valve should be cracked SLOWLY. Also when switching from an empty cylinder to a full one in a two bottle setup do not open the new bottle until you have flipped the two way tap.

Never had a single issue once it was fixed/installed correctly. Even in gale force winds it never fails now.

Hi Mine happens ever so often and exactly the same as yours . (Jurgens van) It’s a swap over from my old truma which worked fine. So trying different things. I see you have a fold down cover for the truma any idea where I could get one thanks.

It came with the van so not sure where you would buy one.

I want to suggest an entirely different explanation and fix. The plastic body of the Truma Ultrarapid gas HWS is thin flexible. The circuit board is attached. Just imagine the van getting a big shake up on rough roads. Perhaps a little dust. Moisture? If the CB is removed with great care and inspected for integrity of all components: fuse checked (1.6A slow burn), harnesses unclipped carefully as wiring is quite fine. Then with great care the CB is remounted noting that it mates with plugs from thermostat; harnesses re joined with great care and plastic bits reseated perfectly. I think then the failure to start causing the red light flashing might be solved. What I'm saying is that poor connections from the circuit board due to shake/dust /etc is the primary problem and fix is low cost. I note that in various blogs people have had the CB replaced as the fix.

Do you still need 12v power if using gas to heat water for the pizo igniter
@JebbreysJibberish
@JebbreysJibberish Жыл бұрын
You would need 12v or 240v. I haven’t tried with no 12v but I would assume the 240v would take over. I might be wrong because the controller might be 12v. Would be an interesting experiment .

@@JebbreysJibberish yeah i got mine working thru 12v, running on gas, worked really well, i reckon i had hot water in 20 minutes on gas, my new van has a 2nd power switch for the hot water system, amazing when you work things out.
