Great thoughts here. Thanks for taking the time. I have the Cognac Charles F. Stead Waxy Mohawk rough out leather in some 1000 Mile boots. I feel like being from the same tannery, they may share some of the marbling characteristics with the Coach Rambler, but in a different shade. I was blown away by the character in these 1000 Mile boots when I got them - it was way better than in pictures. And it feels incredible to the touch. So I hope that comparison holds up... I just ordered my Coach Ramblers this week. Tick, tock...

I just ordered my very first pair of Truman Boots!! I went with the custom Coach Rambler's with the black cristy sole and the polished eyelets and brown tongue with the storm welt. Can not wait until I get them!! it's gonna be a loong 12 weeks or so!! Thank you very much for the great review's Brother!! BTW, the guys at Truman told me to size down a half size, they were Awesome about helping me find my size! I'm Stoked!!

CONGRATULATIONS dude!!! wow that is an excellent choice you went with for your first pair!!!! coach rambler with black Christy sole, storm welt, polished brass eyelets, those babies are gonna be sweet. yes I agree with sizing down a half size on their 79 last, it definitely runs big on me at least. wear your boots in good health my friend!!!!

Great video. It would have been nice to have seen some shots of you wearing the boots with jeans, both medium and dark (but not cuffed). I never got the cuffing the jeans thing. Perhaps just a little too metro for me, not sure.

Hey. FYI I bought some Mark Albert in rust kudu and love them. Nice video too. Alway love seeing your boot collection. I hope you don't suffer the same fate with your feet as you age that I have. I've gone up a full size to size and a half. Hope you can wear your boots for the next 30 years, the quality you bought will easily make it that long.

Fantastic comparison review. Your points are on target. Everyone has their preference so I am not arguing for or against either. I do have both and I love them both! Also, I liked the analogy in the end comparing boots to wine. And I agree, perhaps rambler leather may be more for a seasoned palette?

Thanks for the video. Always interesting to hear your thoughts. When I started only a little over a year ago I had some experiences with certain leathers that made me avoid them and figured I’d only stick with calfskin and suede as they can be a bit easier to deal with without having to be as concerned about some of the variances that can be considered ‘cool’ or just make someone that’s not as experienced a little upset with the inconsistencies. I was also pretty against visible grain at the time. Move forward to to now, and I’m getting more and more open to different looks. Came around to reverse chamois, smooth and suede kudu, and a few cowhide leathers with interesting grain. One being a ‘natural’ veg tan and another being Horween’s buckaroo. Suddenly I’m considering bison. I thought the grain was hideous at first and that it’d never work for my style. I really disliked CXL at first due to a bad experience. Had I gotten those boots today I probably would have kept them rather than being picky about the grain being a bit looser than I’d prefer in the quarters.

thanks my friend!! yes I have heard of RM Williams and though I don't have direct experience myself from what I've seen they are very well constructed high quality boots. my jeans are nearly black, good eye! they are 3sixteen shadow selvedge denim!! they start out super dark and eventually fade into an electric blue color.
