Yes, that is why Donald Trump took up the invitation: he thinks he's losing, regardless of the what the polls currently say. But to mock the people whose support you're trying to get because they don't immediately embrace you ("Maybe you don't want to win." "You'll always be stuck at 3%."), when they know what percentage of the vote they get and would prefer to stick to their principles rather than be coopted and swallowed up by some party that doesn't share those principles, shows you that the only thing important to Donald Trump is adoration of Donald Trump. As we know, he has no principles. Beware Libertarians. He's just trying to coopt you into oblivion. If you want to negotiate with him, and with the nomination of Chase Oliver, I guess you don't, but if you wanted to, I would demand the Cabinet position he promised be Treasury and the White House position be Chief of Staff, and see how he reacts. If he didn't intend to renege on his promise completely ("I didn't really need the Libertarians to win, so they don't get a Cabinet or White House spot."), you would end up with the UN ambassadorship and White House chef's job being filled by Libertarian nominees.
