Bob Bauer has a fascinating point of view but I disagree very strongly on campaign finance. Campaign financing isn't just a question of corruption, it's also a question of massive societal waste. I'm Canadian, individuals here can only donate a maximum of $1700 PER YEAR to political parties and companies can't donate at all. It blows my mind that Americans essentially WASTE billions of dollars every election cycle on an advertising arms race. Think of what else that money could do. Think about what else lawmakers could be doing if they didn't spend 10+ hours a week fundraising. It's just such a broken system and it's shockingly wasteful.

I am a Democrat, but I have to say that we don't do well using social and the media enough. Dems need to keep pushing the things Biden has accomplished. He works quietly on many issues, yet it's not in the news. That is where the former president appears to excel at. He is out there pushing his message, sick as it. My husband and I both worked in our senior year for two separate survey companies. He did mostly cigarette surveys but my employer did a lot of political surveys. I hated them but anyway we generated numbers from specific area codes only per the “customers” requirements. Plus the questions were worded oddly as opposed to other product surveys we also did. Since most employees were very young and really didn’t care much about quality control, just meeting quotas, some of the surveys were simply filled in by the interviewers. We had a portion of our surveys called back but when we had thousands of surveys put out I know a certain number weren’t even real. I know if they only can contact hard lines then it’s only old folks they’re polling and I’m positive by Michael Cohens statement that a lot of polls are politically fixed and thus totally inaccurate. South Carolina democratic senator just had a great interview on Morning Joe and he said that there’s a quiet majority that are Biden voters and the polls are not a real sample of the majority. I found his no nonsense approach to the election and polls was just that, common sense as did most of the viewers. I’ve had a problem with Pod Save Americas attitude towards the polling as “gospel” to what’s real yet no explanation why the red wave was utter BS. It’s not the only wave that was wrong in fact they’ve been wrong for decades. Thankfully almost no one is paying attention to the polls either way. Having experience with the polling nonsense we’ve had no problem ignoring PSA pearl clutching and suggest others use common sense as opposed to the fear mongering. I’m not totally secure that PSA doesn’t also dabble in the fear mongering using polls no matter how sincere they try to come off. John’s laughter is often off putting when such matters of democracy just isn’t funny. That’s a problem some other podcasters have but sometimes it’s just a nervous tick.
