None of the Jan 6 ringleaders have. The most severe consequences for any of them (Trump, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Louie Gohmert, Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, Scott Perry, Peter Navarro, Mike Johnson etc.) were the disbarrments of Giuliani in NY and DC. I moved around when I was younger due to the nature of my parents' job and some school systems were utter cr*p. Why isn't there a national standard that schools have to uphold to? This discussion about whether people will get up off their asses and vote is utterly ludicrous. It reminds me of the old story about the salesman whose car breaks down on a remote back road, and as he walks toward the only house he can see, he begins to hear a dog howling in the front yard of the farmhouse. An old man is sitting on the porch in a rocking chair. The salesman asks if he can use the telephone. The old man says it's just inside the front door. The dog continues howling. After the salesman completes his call to the repair shop, he comes out on the porch and the old man says he should take his load off while he waits for the car repair man. The dog continues howling. Finally the salesman asks "what's with that dog?" "Oh, don't fret none, he's just lying on a nail." The salesman says "why doesn't he just get up?" And the old man says "well, it hurts him enough to howl, just not enough to get up."

i give total to respect to anyone who works at a fastfood location, regardless of company. I worked in a grocery store deli for 2 months one summer (before being picked up by blockbuster and quickly running out the door for a better retail gig) and OMG. Hungry people are THE WORST. Cleaning dishes on a commercial scale is HARD. It gets HOT in a commerical kitchen (our deli also did pizza and had a huge oven). You are on totally garbage floors. My sneakers were not enough, i had to get dr. scholls gel inserts (and i was only there 2 months!). I worked part time as a summer gig during grad school and I hated it. But i had coworkers who were there full time, 10 years, raising kids on our crappy wages with angry old ladies screaming about how thick their olive loaf was cut. Occasionally we had to fill in for the bakery (as they got in way before us and left long before we closed) and then you'd get upset parents who forgot to get a cake for someone in the family complaining that we couldn't write their kid's name well on the cake. We had to answer the phone and take cake orders or deli platter orders as the deli line grew longer and people became grouchier. It was a MESS. Never again, if i can help it. I don't see myself above it at all, in fact it's the opposite. I don't believe i'm up to that task. I"m lucky now, i work a cubical job, get a decent wage, work 30hrs and have the freedom to enjoy our work garden and work outside and walk around (so i'm not chained to a desk). But i know that if/when this goes away (because i swear jobs downsize us all every 3-5 years), i'll die if i have to go back to that environment. I couldn't cut it. It's a LOT and those people deserve better wages, better floors (seriously cannot stress enough how horrible the floors were for my feet) and basic respect from the customers. My hat is off to you all, current fast food workers. You guys are amazing.

No, they need to ask Trump why he didn’t do anything because he’s the only candidate that had the power to do it. Vice Presidents meet dignitaries, act as talking heads, and break ties in the senate. Kamala Harris has no power to unilaterally do anything. Trump had the votes to pass border legislation during his administration and even if he didn’t, he could’ve issued an executive order-something Obama did to get things done when congress refused to work with him during his administration. Ask Trump what he was doing about the border when he was president other than promising a “big, beautiful wall” that never materialized and lying about making Mexico pay for it.

To speak to the last part with Melissa; I feel like, since only one (?) voted that one time and Hillary didn’t win they became disenfranchised with the system, but did they think if they voted she would definitely win? They have these issues, and I agree they didn’t broadcast their wins as best they could, but I doubt they’re as “plugged-in” with politics. Just like I can’t expect to meet people if I never leave my home, they can’t expect information to be dropped in their lap. I hate to use this with millennials, but they seem sort of entitled. I didn’t get my person in Hillary. I got Satan for four years and he ruined everything. Then I got a guy who didn’t give me the wins I wanted even though I didn’t vote at all, but they kind of did but because they’re not “plugged-in” they don’t know, and now they’re just not going to vote. Which gets us to the deeper point of voting for the lesser of two evils, which I believe we always will under our political structure. Was it better under Satan or Biden? Yes, I am being extremely hyperbolic, but this “give me what I want” mentality is being hosted by EVERY SINGLE VOTER. Do your “wants” align with MILLIONS of voters? If yes, you might get what you want. It aligns with only hundreds of thousands? It might not. The issue for me is to just “sit it out” and then complain about what is handed to you is ridiculous, lazy and stubborn. Do something or do nothing, but only one of those things helps you get what you want. It’s up to you.
