Impeaching doesn't mean he stops being president - it's not a required result of impeachment, just a possible one. And there's no way Trump would resign as previously impeached presidents have. And to some extent it'd martyr him. His supporters would rally around him more forcefully and his appeal to anti-establishment folk would quite possibly strengthen. A lot of Trump's strength derives from how easy it is to make people angry. He has nothing good to offer, just sound bites, racism, glorification of violence against women and general division. And keeping people angry and at least pretending to be on their side, driving up their hatred of any opposition, is a powerful way of getting them and keeping them on your side. He'll just use impeachment to keep stoking the fires of hatred. He'll keep pointing at non-white opponents and issuing and encouraging racism, firing up those who feel threatened by immigrants (i.e. recent immigrants and, particularly, non-white immigrants). What's needed is not to impeach Trump, it's to find a way to defuse his game of hatred.
