They refused to disqualify Trump (Section 3 of the 14th Amendment) and he incited an insurrection. Presidential immunity is a constitutional absurdity. One of the few things the Constitution specifically mandates for a president is that they "take care that the laws be faithfully executed" - they shouldn't be immune from jaywalking. The Constitution also says a president can be impeached for crimes and misdemeanors, there is no provision that suggests a president might need to break laws to do the job, or that they should be immune if they do. The founders were opposed to monarchs that were above the law. There was no intent to place anyone above it.... How is this even a discussion? Much as I dislike it, i can see valid reasons why there is a policy not to prosecute sitting presidents WHILE in office (not the same as immunity) but I also think it can go to absurd extremes - especially when impeachment isn't about right or wrong, or accountability; it's about whether the president's party has a majority in Congress. We've seen this repeatedly. Reagan should have been impeached for Iran/Contra. Clinton should have been thrown out for suborning perjury and trying to subvert a citizens right to a fair trial (and/or ChinaGate) - but he had the Senate. Bush should have been impeached for intentionally lying us into war and for torturing people - over 100 to death. Trump should have been thrown out twice - but he had the Senate. At the very least, IF a president (that should have no blanket immunity) cannot be prosecuted while in office -- then any statutes of limitation on crimes should be suspended during any period the courts are prevented from prosecuting. Also, btw, it is another constitutional and legal absurdity to claim a president can pardon themselves - no such thing is contemplated in the Constitution, and it is contrary to the most basic of legal concepts -- that an individual can't be their own judge and/or jury.

Jimmy Carter's toenail clippings had more honor and integrity than that vulgarian has ever had in his whole body his whole life. Talk about two skunks at a picnic.

So basically they are saying that they only denied his appeal because there was a promise of unconditional discharge. They are still despicable. This is the SUPREME COURT for god's sake, the SUPREME COURT! Where can we go for justice?

He's not going to show up for sentencing. What are they going to do to him if he doesn't? The same thing they are going to do if he showed up-- Nothing.

Well, finally they will hold him accountable. Unbelievable how many things he has just simply gotten away with. Too bad he wasn’t held to account the day after Jan 6.

Rest in peace democracy. Today we witnessed a two tiered justice system. There are in fact, people who are above the law. People in power. People who can commit crimes without persecution. The supreme court found this man guilty and yet he is not being held accountable and punished. The federal government has failed us. I want my money back.
