Who runs and controls the ”Blob”? The military complex? 🤔
@rageburst
@rageburst 5 ай бұрын
Think of it more as a tribalistic complex society with power brokers (example is Madeleine Albright), interest groups (example is AIPAC), many of whom act to keep their jobs. Even John Mearsheimer is part of the blob, but as a minority working in academics with little influence on the actual policymakers. This is a complex tribal society where academics say the right things, but exert little power because they're not hired as policymakers. The way to change the blob is non-trivial. You need to enter the field, but to make as many allies as you can, and there needs to be leaders capable of making courageous and hard decisions that would reform this tribal society. It won't be an easy path, and you may make a lot of enemies on the way. The military industrial complex is more a symptom of this blob / national security state / deep state. They're part of the blob. There will always be those who will profit from the situation, but they're not necessarily the origin of the problem.

The U.S. profits from international conflicts, exploiting them as opportunities to extend its influence, rather than genuinely fighting for freedoms and democracy. The U.S., under the veneer of promoting freedom and democracy, engages in proxy wars to serve its interests. The U.S. remains indifferent to the costs borne by other countries in these conflicts, so long as it secures its national interests.

So, american foreign policy establishment is unchangable?
@rageburst
@rageburst 5 ай бұрын
It can be reformed, but it's a non-trivial path, and the people who want change have to play it smart, pick the right allies and friends, and there needs to be courageous leaders to step to the plate to face the predominantly progressive liberals running this blob.

Citation that he armed ukranians? I seem to recall he told zelensky that he should sit down and talk to putin snd resolve their problems. I can't quite recall' the exact words. That doesnt mean he DIDNT arm ukranians, but i need something to verify that claim! I feel like i do when i'm being gaslighted. Edited friday; This may actually be true. In one of the Ukraine channels that i watch, that seems t always to match all of the other Ukraine channels that i follow, they explicitly discussed this yesterday (thursday) and it was exactly what this guy says in the video. Im going to follow up with any other sensible suggestions others have given me to continue to be better informed.

Think the error on Meerscheimers part here is to believe, if only by implication of his observations, that Trump is any sort of rational actor. We know Trumps only rationale is his own self-aggrandisement and what effect that has on foreign policy is purely incidental

Then who runs the USA
@thegoodpimps

america is a democracy, so it is run by a large collective of people, some elected, some appointed, some hired, some cooperating with each other some competitions with eachother, some sharing the same goals but differing in means and others differing in goals by sharing the same means.

america and europe cooperate hugely in trade, intelligence, infrastructure and many other areas to the point it would be such a huge loss for either to lose the other that it's unthinkable they would stop being allies.
