Instead of poring over evidence or arguments related to his legal defense, today in the courtroom Donald Trump leafed through positive press clippings about himself. “Much like a child with an iPad at a restaurant, the ex-president needs to be entertained during the less-salacious portions of his trial,” says Chris Hayes.

Trump was Sundowning severely during his final press conference. He was using words that were odd, like saying "twenty-oh-six" for 2006 and many more mixes of sounding close, but the wrong meaning. His facial expression was distorted, showing only a puffy deadened look around his eyes, even when trying say things with anger or humour. He had the idea of what he wanted to say, about condemning Jews for voting Democrat - but got totally confused reading one of his articles. It was about some Jewish doners, that were unhappy about Biden restricting arms to Israel. He repeatedly got confused saying these pro-Israel doners somehow hated Israel. I've witnessed this stage of dementia before, in people that developed full blown Alzheimer's.

Having a batch of appealing printed material is something I’ve seen done for dementia patients. The person with whom I’m most familiar would spend extended periods shuffling through the same materials over and over, and spent long moments starting at photos of himself doing things. Without his papers he was often agitated and restless, but would be able to stay occupied calmly for 45 minutes to an hour with his papers.
