The wording "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" has always made the interpretation of 14th amendment from the Wong Kim Ark ruling ripe for challenge in terms of children of illegal immigrants. Besides the interpretation of that wording, the purpose of the amendment to protect freed slaves is well known. It will take a couple years to work through the courts but given the current conservative SCOTUS was willing to throw out RvW which had a very extensive history of case law supporting it, I seriously doubt they would hesitate to give the opinion that children of illegals are not covered under the amendment.

They are more than just assets. They're the embodiment of dream and possibility. I was offered such an opportunity many, many years ago. To overstay my H2A visa to continue working for a landscaping company for however long it might have taken. I declined for ethical reasons. To uphold my end of the contract with the USA only to find out a bit later, that the Obama admin. Were allowing known murderers to run free in Sanctuary cities and beyond.. By the weekly double decker bus load. The whole loophole and sanctuary city blind eye. Is also something rather sacred. Where people who entered legitimately and have caused no trouble can stick around for a green card if and when they can live up to civility checks with their only crime having overstayed their visa. There is so much integrity in that unofficial system and some of the best people in the USA have only committed that single crime. Illegal immigration aside, it is time to amend the laws on land ownership. Buying/owning land should be lawfully prohibited by those not legally living/working. Those on a work/student visa should be allowed but limited to specific sizes/acreage. Only U.S CITIZENS and legal residents (Green Card holders) should be exempt from any property and land ownership limits. China does not allow land ownership to a foreigner. Why should we allow Chinese nationals to own land in the U.S?
