Sept 2016 I was behind a lady at the pharmacy getting her medication and she kept saying “are you kidding me, it can’t be right?” Her medicine came to over $100 and she said please get my insurance on the line. I looked over and it was just one medication. In Australia Medicare works great. Ppl who don’t work the government looks after a big portion of their meds and for those employed the common medications are generally $12-$20

For example, I broke my finger, they put a cast on it and my bill runs 1800 Without insurance, with insurance it runs about 400. Now after talking to some doctors they actually said that it's pretty common and the cast cost 10 to 20 bucks. I think that having the government pretty much mandates insurance it allows the medical provider and pharmaceutical companies to inflate the value because they know they can because people don't care, as long as they are fine and it's still affordable we good.

I tried signing up for Obama care while in my early 30s right after it started I made about 11 an hour I'm 41 now it was 4× more than my work offered for the same exact plan. But my one real issue was the mandate for having insurance because I never went to the doctor or hospital at all and the one year I didn't have insurance because I couldn't afford it they took all but 60 of my tax return but I didn't go to the hospital or doctor or anything a single time because I didn't get sick or hurt so why the hell should I pay a fine for not having insurance unless I went to the hospital and couldn't pay or whatever that was the only issue I had with it.

I also feel like part of the problem, or perhaps the entire problem, Is refusing to acknowledge the actual scope of the problem. Saying " well but it only affects 10 or 20 athletes Nationwide" Is just not true, saying, "well letting the teacher put a kitty litter box in the corner of the room only affects the two students in her class that use it", isn't true. It affects every other student in that classroom who has to deal with someone pissing in the corner, and it affects every other player in every single one of these leagues. People talk about Lea Thomas and Riley Gaines because in one event they tied and Leah got the podium, people don't talk about all of the girls in regional meets who didn't move up to the next regional competition, because their placement was outside of the top because of Leah, people who might have just been having not their best day that day, who would have come in just by the skin of their teeth but would have made it to the next level of regional heat, and instead they got sent home, so having one athlete who identifies this way participating in any league, has a disproportionate effect on potentially hundreds of other women who are participating in that league, and all of the people who care about those women who are potentially affected. And at least in my experience, if you try to simply bring up these considerations in any kind of honest manner among the people who support the policies, you don't get any acknowledgment of the realities of the situation, you just get "trans women are women and if you think otherwise, you're a bigot". Maybe I'm just projecting, but I think there's a lot of people who are very tired of being ruled by what they perceive as nonsensical edicts, whose consequences are not fully examined. Understood, appreciated, or even honestly considered, whose proponents respond to their questioning by telling questioners that they're horrible people if they don't already agree with 'the obviously superior moral choice'.

Right, but there are already rules, regulations, code of ethics etc for collegiate sports, right? Or professional sports teams, even high school. For the FEDERAL government to GOVERN this issue over sports, when it IS not an issue that deserves day one attention. Politicians COULD have focused on keeping female athletes "safer" countless ways. If every trans athlete quit tomorrow, do you think females athletes are better protected?

You can’t just go buy a weapon without ID or a background check at a Gun show. They 100% do a background check. Also he can’t go into a gun store with “just his state issued ID” and buy a gun. Background checks are a thing.

The law inside a gun show is exactly the same outside a gun show. Virtually all of the tables with guns on them for sale at a show are licensed dealers. They are FFLs. A gun show is simply a mobile storefront for them. But the same rules for sale at a show are the same as if you walked into a brick-and-mortar shop. There are private sellers at gun shows. It is legal to dispose of personal firearms in accordance with State and Federal law. This is where the whole “universal background checks” (UBC) conversation starts. UBCs are the so-called “gun show loophole” repackaged. It is the idea that a person selling their guns without government oversight is so offensive that must be stopped and monitored. But gun shows have nothing to do with it. It is up to the state to decide how to regulate private sales of guns. Some like California have UBCs. No private sales permitted. Others have a 50/50 rule with handguns being subject to UBCs but long guns are not. Many have no restriction as long as Federal law is followed. Some gun shows, in fact, don’t permit private sales either in the show or on the property where it is held. The big gun show I attend does not permit them. You can bring a gun for private sale into the show but either have to transfer it through a dealer or leave the property entirely to sell the gun. Basically not anywhere in sight of the front door or in the venue parking lot. But for 95%+ of all sales at a gun show you will be working with an FFL, filling out a form 4473 and passing a background check. Then, and only if the law allows, will you be leaving with your gun. The last gun I bought at a gun show I didn’t leave with as it was a handgun sale across State lines so, per Federal law, I had to have it shipped to a dealer in my state and transferred it there. So much for the so-called “gun show loophole”.

Socialized medicine does not work. I live in WNY very close to three major border crossings and work in an ER roughly 20-50 minutes from them. EVERY week I have at least one Canadian who has driven over a BORDER entry to come to our hospital while HAVING A HEART ATTACK because of the terrible medical services they get there. So please if you’re going to advocate for socialized medicine then actually talk to folks who are impacted by it.

Im not a comservative but i am poor and working class. Obama was the beginning of the downfall. Race relations got worse. Wages got worse ( my local bk was paying 13/hr before he got in and 8/hr after) obamacare just made insurance companies get creative to make all that money. I cant think of any metric that people care about that was actually better under him

Alot of people don't understand it. It isn't about ego. It opens up oil exploration farther out in the Gulf but also many other financial opportunities for other industries, thus increasing revenue both at the company and national tax revenue levels. Just the name change alone, changes alot and opens many other options.
