@markusk908014 күн бұрын
Israel is a democratic and reasonable country in constant danger of attacks by its neighbours whereas Iran is a fundamental dictatorship that is funding terrorist organizations around the world. Israel being in possession of nuclear weapons as a deterrent was actually one of the main reasons why Sadat decided to make peace on behalf of Egypt with Israel in 1979, so in the case of Israel they have actually contributed to peace in the region.

A Few Points: 1. Modern Nation-States Are Formidable Entities: It's a fallacy to assume that any kind of economic sanctions regime can force a country like Iran to bow down and yield. 2. Sanctioning Powers and Their Hidden Objectives: At the same time, it's an equally big mistake to assume that a sanctioning power would ever publicly disclose all the objectives it seeks to achieve through economic strangulation. Some objectives simply cannot be stated without inviting moral censure, and, generally, these are the objectives that matter most. It's very difficult for a state facing continual economic hardships to devote its scarce resources to investing in weapon platforms as technologically and economically demanding as nuclear weapons. 3. China and Iranian Oil: While it's true that China is the biggest buyer of Iranian oil, it would be inaccurate to presume that these purchases are made in open defiance of the U.S. sanctions regime. In fact, the opposite is true. Chinese purchases of Iranian oil are conducted by circumventing the sanctions rather than defying them outright. No Chinese state petroleum companies buy oil from Iran, nor do Chinese state shipping companies transport Iranian oil. Independent Chinese refiners, often referred to as "teapots," buy Iranian oil, often rebranding it through intermediaries in countries like Malaysia and the UAE. 4. Iran’s Unlikelihood of Acquiring Nuclear Weapons: Iran is unlikely to actually go ahead and acquire nuclear weapons, contrary to what many people seem to think. Such a move would obviously be a poor strategic choice, inviting far more problems than benefits for the state. Not only would obtaining a few atomic warheads fail to significantly strengthen Iran's security, but it would also likely undermine Iran's strategic standing in the region. Any Iranian acquisition of nuclear weapons would inevitably push both Saudi Arabia and Turkey to pursue nuclear weapons of their own. The deterrence so established would severely limit Iran's strategic moves in the region, as any action could risk nuclear escalation. Furthermore, such an acquisition would almost certainly provoke a devastating counterforce first strike against Iran by both the U.S. and Israel.
