We keep hearing “fascist” - we are getting numb to hearing that word. Tell people “why* living under fascism would be bad in our day to day life. Describe the dangers. Armed soldiers in our streets? People being disappeared? Money gone? Starvation? The average person isn’t going to do the research. Unless a person has been/lived in any of the "-ism” countries, the average person has no clue.

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy. Trump is a demented, self-serving bitter old man seeking power mainly in order to avoid prison sentences.

George Bush is not terribly popular, perhaps his silence is best in this case. He was most likely an 'illegal' president his last term - Bush vs Gore - Gore won the popular vote and had more votes in Florida , when though court decisions and ballot deficiencies gave the state and the presidency to George W. Bush. I don't think his endorsement is worth much, but he could say that he doesn't support Trump..I don't think many of us believe that he does..for what it's worth.

I live in Texas. I know that Texas is unlikely to fall in the Harris column. But I think it's important to remember that Texas is closer to being a battleground state than Florida or Ohio. Also, more votes were cast in Texas for Biden than any other state except California. We have a legit chance to replace Cruz with Allred. Yet every judge on my local ballot was an unopposed Republican. That has to change. The Democratic party needs to choose to compete in Texas instead of marking it down as an automatic loss.

This phrase, often attributed to H.L. Mencken, states "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong," essentially meaning that for complicated issues, the most readily apparent solution is usually easy to understand but fundamentally incorrect. To extend the google search result, some people are believing that unchecked power is how things will be fixed. Democracy stops many of the abuses of giving a single person ultimate power. China has some amazing infrastructure, but look deeper and you can see how bad some of their population is treated. Women are still second class citizens there. Some groups are treated horribly. Even if someone honestly believes Trump was a good man (he isn't, not at all), voting for him is to vote to erode the guardrails that protects our democracy and so many other things. Put more simply, it means that someone else can come along and use that unchecked power the supreme court gave in different horrible ways. It is a lot harder to put back a guard rail than it is to tear it down. Everyone should vote for Kamala.

Just remember she is still a working Vice President. Why is no one talking about the cost and responsibility for men, if abortion is off the table? Just because a woman is the only sex who can carry a baby, doesn’t mean men get off scott free! If there is no ‘day after’ pill available, there will be so many more pregnancies, which will effectively take women out of the workforce and put even more financial burden on families. As for cases of pregnancy due to incest and rape… only a doctor, psychologist and the girl/woman involved should have any right in the outcome. The victim has enough to deal with, without having no choice in what comes next. Their physical health and financial cost, along with the stop it puts on their life eg education, work and emotional/mental health. They are not looking at the big picture for a lot of this.

Electoral votes are awarded by the state. If the republicans can invent a scam that works to throw them into question, then the house gets it, with one vote per state. The balance there favors republicans. This is what they were trying last time. Some protections are added with the clarifications to the Electoral Count act, but they are still going to try, if it is close. If Trump wins, well he puts his lackeys in power. The Robert's court gave him immunity for official acts. Ordering the military is an official act. He has already said he wants to go after his political rivals with the military. Carrying out the orders may in itself be illegal, but he can pardon everyone. Maybe a state prosecution is possible, though with this supreme court, I wouldn't bet on it. They respond fast when Trump needs help. Kamala needs to win, or things could start falling apart fairly quickly.

Moving forward, however, all former Presidents will be cloaked in such immunity. If the occupant of that office misuses official power for personal gain, the criminal law that the rest of us must abide will not provide a backstop. With fear for our democracy, I dissent."

Obviously, Jews were by far the largest group of victims, so it's only right to mention them first, but if you can't be bothered to specifically name, e.g., Romas, disabled people and gay people, at least put a sentence or even just a clause in there acknowledging that many, MANY people who weren't Jewish were systematically murdered in the holocaust as well.

I agree about that, and I think you also have to acknowledge (because of the lack of history-education or maybe just the lack of in-depth education about Germany in the late30s/early 40s throughout the US) that Hitler and his Henchmen murdered THEIR OWN CITIZENS. Jews, yes, and Roma and Gays etc, which is horrible absolutely in itself. But I think a lot of people might still say "Well, those are different than *I* am, you know? I'm not gay/Jewish/Roma/whatnot, so it doesn't really concern me". There were also thousands of German citizens who were opposing Hitler's policies, disagreed, maybe helped people to escape or even just threw anti-war-leaflats around. They were white, mostly Christian and JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Imagine what would have happened to the kids on college-campuses for protesting against the War against the Palestinians under someone like Hitler. If you can't get them with empathy about "those other people", get them with their fear for themselves and their own children.

As far as General Kelly being a Trump turncoat: too late the hero. Kelly won't endorse the Harris/Walz ticket either, but luckily the Harris/Walz campaign can use Kelly just like his former buddy Trump did.

Miles Taylor, a Homeland Security advisor, also had said that Kelly told him that Trump wanted to gut the VA because he found out how much was in the VA budget.

The word 'fascist' has unfortunately lost some of its force from too many people using it where it's not warranted. So now, when we have someone with actual fascist tendencies on our hands, the word doesn't conjure up the appropriate levels of alarm.

While I don't disagree with wanting to know about this information at all, wouldn't it also give the other side an advantage knowing it and knowing what to prepare for?? I'm suspecting that's at least partially why it isn't discussed more though.

Who the hell came up with this idea that a, “pardon heals a nation?” Healing would be holding him accountable and keeping him from being a threat to society. That would bring calm to the nation, not letting a rich man get away with multiple federal and civil crimes.

John Kelly should put his face to this. Look the American people in the eye directly and say this. The audio is not gonna make much of an impression - (unless the Harris campaign makes commercials using it). Audio only is a bit of a cop out in my opinion.

She has 100+attorneys, the most important of which is Marc Elias, and they already have a lot of lawsuits they are already dealing with. Already there have been over 100 lawsuits filed. Voter suppression is a big thing. They are suing for anything and everything.

I’m not defending Kelly’s views or actions in the administration, but I think in large part he and the other generals were trying to restrain Trump rather than implement his agenda, even if they agreed with aspects of it. They did manage to stop most of his craziest demands before they were fired or quit and replaced by sycophants

They are really obnoxious. I moved back to Cincinnati in Dec from Seattle…I immediately started getting ads demonizing immigrants and some other pro trump register to vote/vote by mail ads. Moreno ads are definitely the majority currently. Got one of the loser Vivek last week that was pure disinformation about gerrymandering though
