That's the point, really. Trump keeps questioning truth because he knows that his shtick only works when decency has been thrown out of the equation. People are bombarded with information every day, and not everyone has the willingness or time to parse it out, so flashy, unsubstantial and populist arguments will always win out, sadly. Unless we change the pace of modern life (doubtful) or at least the way issues are raised and discussed in the public sphere (including by the press and by shows like these, which are good filters but also end up adding up to that feeling of saturation), we'll not be able to deal with the real economic and social problems that lead people to choose easy fixes in populist tropes.
