As a hunting dog the puppy was kept in a cage most of the time only brought out for training or hunting. For a young puppy they go nuts when they first come out. Need to keep them on a leash until they are trained. I've never trained a pointer, but my grandfather has. I was totally stupid back in the seventies. And it's still shows. Forgive me grandfather
