The needle is calibrated to 300 million Americans, but it's tens of thousands in about half a dozen states that will decide this. It's an open question if the debate reached those people in a moving way, but very marginal changes in national polls which will look like an unresponsive needle can result in a won or lost election.

This man is not a "Winner" by any stretch of the imagination, he is the ultimate Loser who has merely evaded paying the bill, but that is coming Donald.

Nitpick but I hope Harris' team realize that the average voter most likely hasn't heard the term strongmen in the context that those who are tuned into the world of politics are. It is too intellectual. Simplify to the avg voter and just say authoritarian.

This debate actually made me angry at Biden cuz it really highlighted just how deeply ineffective he is as a communicator, and it reminded me that he almost cost us everything due to his ego. Maybe that’s not fair, but it’s 100% how I feel… he had no business gambling with our rights and lives like that

I think he may have changed his mind about staying in the race earlier than it appears. The wait until after Trump chose his running mate and after the RNC occurred indeed was a very anxious time for many Democrats, myself included. But it ended up being a shrewd political move. By then Trump and his team were fully invested in Biden being their opponent, and they had wasted their campaign messaging and millions of dollars. I don’t think Harris would be positioned nearly as well if Biden had dropped out and endorsed her within days of the debate. He did the right thing in the end and timed it absolutely brilliantly. Debate skills are really different than the skills of being a good president. Presidents have more than two minutes to craft a message and communicate effectively, and they have the aid of their cabinet advisors as well. Go take a look at younger Joe Biden on KZbin. He was eloquent in his words and he communicated policy spontaneously and effectively. His decline in debate skills is pretty recent, in my opinion.

Very good analysis here. Somewhat bias for Harris, but they still made allot of sensible observations about the candidates and about the way the debate went. They describe it in a much more realistic way. Unlike all of these totally Delusional people online who are pretending that the old & angry donnie Chump had won that debate lol.
