"Helen Beristain is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump. She’s said in the past that she voted for the President because she agreed with an immigration policy that he promoted. Now, as her husband is about to be deported, her family is on the wrong side of a system she thought would spare them.
Helen’s husband, Roberto Beristain, came to the U.S. illegally from Mexico in 1998, and subsequently received documentation to work in the U.S. and has been checking in with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). But in 2000, he accidentally crossed over into Canada on a trip to Niagara Falls, and ended up being detained, and was told he had to leave the U.S. He didn’t, because Helen was pregnant at the time, according to Indiana Public Media.
Since Roberto remained in the country instead of voluntarily deporting himself, ICE then had the authority to take him into custody. When ICE stumbled upon this incident in February of this year, they did just that, and sent him from his home in Granger, Indiana, to a detention facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He is set to be deported on Friday."

I think it was she finally got her citizenship completed but he's been on the radar for the last 17 years. I think they both were illegal immigrants. I think there's rules that while she or he could apply for a green card and get it and not leave. the other must leave and wait through the legal process to get his green card as the spouse.

Gisela Acevedo the filing process is an arduous nightmare, its a money making scam for both the government and immigration lawyers. they probably got lazy or he had something on his record that would have come up that would have prevented him from getting a green card and they knew it so they didnt want to waste money wrong i know but after 9/11 they changed the rules and made it even harder to get a green card tons of financials, health records, documentation of the sponsor, etc even if you were married legitimately for years before hand. someone needs to investigate whether Trump has business ties to any of these dentention centers.

I feel very sorry for the deported man's employees and his four children. Yes, the wife voted for Trump but I can't help but empathize with people who are suffering. The employees and the kids especially didn't call this down on themselves. I'm guessing the wife still calls herself a conservative and will vote for Trump-supporting candidates for various political offices, even if she turns against Trump (which she may not do). So I struggle to find empathy or sympathy for this couple, although I still oppose the deportation on principle.
