I'm a Dem in Idaho . We're only 1/3 of the votes in my state but I keep voting in alignment with my values. The vile cruelty, the absurdity, the narcissism, the disgusting behavior of Trump makes me sick. 4 more years of him, the conservatism, the message of if u do not conform u have no value, and the new ridiculous Project 2025 feels overwhelming. All we can do is try to keep any part of our democracy intact. For me tho it will be after a few weeks of getting thru some of this intense grief. I appreciate u posting. It gave me the outlet I needed today to get some of these feelings out. And I apologize that our country let this happen because I know it will adversely affect the whole world. 😥

Remember that a lot of people who voted for Trump did so on a purely economic basis- they think he will make them rich(er). When that doesn’t play out, and they can’t get a pizza delivered because there are no immigrants to do it, can’t get healthcare for their pregnant wife or daughter, and can’t buy cheap imported goods because Trump hiked up the tariffs, then get laid off because those same countries hiked tariffs on US exports in retaliation…. they are going to be mightily pissed.

Democrat in NC, USA...red state. Bummed out, but not surprised. On a whole, when listening to my fellow American citizens opine, I've come to the inescapable conclusion that we are a still just little more than nation with strong racist and misogynistic leanings, and that infection greatly impacts how we choose to live our lives. We're also wholly undereducated in matters of macroeconomics and civics, removing our ability to critically think. Twice in the past eight years, we've picked this weak little bully over a women, and in both cases the women was infinitely stronger and more qualified. However, neither purported themselves as a bully...and that's going to be why he shines. Nothing is more motivating to followers than hate and fear, and he sows these both beautifully. In the end, whether we like it or not, he is us...the worst of us to be sure, but us nonetheless. Thanks kindly for your sympathy, Paul. Now...back to the garden. It will always be my little slice of paradise and calm amid...whatever it is in which we're mired....

But Trump can be ousted as President and replaced with whoever the Republican Party pick as leader, can’t he? And if the GOP invoked the 23rd Amendment- or whichever one it is that lets a mentally ill President be replaced, the Dems would obviously support that, wouldn’t they? So… I’m kinda thinking Trump and MAGA may have been cynically used by the “traditional” GOP to get back into power- but that they plan to rein him in or get rid of him. Will be interesting- chair and popcorn required!

Before Roe each state had their own law. During Row each state had their own law. Post Roe every state has their own law. Abortion law in terms of weeks had been changing before during and after Roe. Before Roe it was hard to have a baby in certain circumstances that do not even exist anymore. Roe was about a right to privacy. It was about women having the ability to hide they got pregnant from spouse or employer, whomever and could take care of it until viability as it was a separate entity than the woman. It was in human glob of tissue, until ultrasound became common. But then some states were allowing after viability and viability was changing as medicine improved since 1973. 8 states and DC you can get an abortion at any point in pregnancy. Because the SCOTUS returned to the states they can do that. Under Roe those states could get an unfavorable ruling during many of the cases it heard since Roe since they are doing it after viability for no medical reason. Now they can do what they want.

I think just not enough people were excited about Kamala for bad (racist/sexist) reasons, but also good reasons too. She supported the war in Gaza and I know many Muslims, people on the populist leaning left, and anti-war independents did not vote for her for that reason. Also the handling of the pandemic, lack of integrity of the mainstream media, not enough interviews/appearances, and the lack of a primary hurt her chances a lot with independents too. I am very sad Trump won, I was not a fan of either candidate, but would have preferred Kamala for obvious reasons. But I do understand why people weren't excited for her in this election, and also why people voted or opted not to vote as a rejection of the current state of the democratic party. There should have been a primary and a selection by the people, and the party should have listened to more of the demands of the left and leaned harder against the pro-war economy of the US.

@@ThoseVeganGuys It has to do with the President. It is totally what he did. And what he didn’t do. It’s not just a few bad quarters. We have had medication supply issues for 3 years. Baby formula was hard to find for an entire year. People in the elite class didn’t want Trump and they made him into an evil person to put HRC in. She stepped aside graciously so President Obama could take the nomination and it was owed her. After all Biden one would think would run in the primary if this were not the case. So they focused on Trump ignoring all the other candidates for the primary and bashed him constantly. Because of that people went to him directly to find out for themselves. They didn’t know him as an elected official. Which is why the media could create whatever image they wanted of him. Why were they trying to tell us he was the devil incarnate when he never served in office before? They set him up to be her opponent on the ballot thinking the character assassination would get her the position she was promised. The reason there are tens of thousands of people at his rallies is so they can hear what he said not what they want you to think he said. They also spied on his campaign. Anyone over 40 heard about watergate. The gaslighting is unbelievable. Be disappointed the person you hoped would be elected didn’t get elected, but stop this. People have been shot for goodness sake, someone died. It was the same in 2017 only the gunman target GOP congressman. This time the President elect and the audience. Is this Russia? Does the opposition candidate and people that want to hear him out have to risk death to do so? This encouragement to harass and dehumanizing him and anyone who voted for him has got to stop. No one does this to Harris, Biden or Clinton voters. No schools cancelled virtual classes so students can mourn at home about the result when Biden got in.

I suspected Kamala was going to lose when she started cosying up to neocons like Liz & Dick Cheney. I think she was, partly, extremely badly advised by her campaign as, in more recent times, both the left and the right wing have become much more anti war (albeit for perhaps different reasons) but most Americans nowadays actually reject what people like Liz & Dick Cheney stand for, despite it being for different reasons. It was also the fact she went after the "moderate" anti Trump Republicans when the numbers clearly show there's just, sadly, not enough of them out there to waste precious campagin time and energy on reaching. Instead, she should have focused on progressive economic policies which would have, at least, enthused some more people enough to consider voting for her and also her stance on Gaza clearly cost her.

Treasonous, not only to country, but to every ally he has ever had, the poisoned fruit and rankest flower of racism and contempt for women, and utterly devoid of shame for his moral and spiritual bankruptcy. That is your leader. That is to whom you give your money. That is who you follow and laud. That is whose banner you willingly carry. Why? Because he is a mirror, not a lighthouse. You see yourselves in him. He is what you would be, if you had inherited money and could shed the last vestiges of conscience and shame. No, I do not "respect your choices," nor do I admire your loyalty and dedication to this miserific, demonic vision. You have demonstrated not only a lack of civic virtue, loyalty to the Republic and to the rule of law, but a willingness to engage in violence and sedition at his slightest expressed wish. And you will never, ever admit you were wrong, because you see your dark, twisted, resentful dreams in him. And to renounce him would be to renounce yourselves." ~ Advocatus Peregrini

After feeling heartbroken for my US friends on Wed and then considering what Trump tariffs will mean for us in Canada, on Thursday, today, Friday, I’m thinking of the ppl in Ukraine and what a US withdrawal of aid for the war will mean for them. Russia, with a 21% interest rate to fund their war, with over 9% inflation, Putin will expect Trump to back out, allowing him to take Ukraine before his ppl revolt. And the frightening thing is, Trump will and his hoard of followers will cheer him for it. Ppl who voted for Trump stated it was about the economy, they honestly think high inflation in 2022 only happened in America, only happened because of the Dem’s/Biden. Every Country experienced post pandemic shortages, soaring interest rates and the resulting high interest rates to bring it down, yet in their minds if TRUMP had been President for the last 4 yrs, it never would have happened. Dickens was right: “This boy is IGNORANCE and this girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this BOY for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased.”

Both candidates were as bad as each other. Both believe and practice harmful politics and should not be advocating and speaking for or making decisions for their country or any other. Trump is a non starter but Harris really showed her arrogant, war mongering ways - no thanks to both.

I’m puzzled by how someone with a controversial history and divisive public actions is seen by many as the best choice for America, though I have some theories as to why. 1. Economic hardship and high costs of living have left many Americans feeling unsupported, especially when they see tax dollars directed toward services for non-citizens. Trump’s strong stance on immigration appeals to some who feel the system should prioritize citizens who are struggling. However, policies like mass deportation could be costly and might not address the root causes of economic strain, including food insecurity and waste not to mention seperating familiies. 2. Social media has amplified divisions in American society. One side feels unheard, while another is wary of identity-based politics. Many white men, who make up a significant portion of the population, are concerned about their future and seek someone who they believe will advocate for their interests. Trump’s rhetoric appeals to them as he openly challenges many of these issues. 3.The political middle ground has weakened. Some people on the left have become more vocal against certain groups, fueling a sense of division, while others feel alienated and have shifted their support toward conservative platforms. This polarization has deepened the "us vs. them" dynamic across political lines. 4.Kamala Harris faced challenges in her campaign, including limited time to connect with voters. Her communication style is sometimes perceived as less authentic compared to Trump’s direct approach, which, though often controversial, resonates with many as “speaking his mind.” 5. People prioritise issues differently. For some people especially those faccing economic hardship are going to favor someone they believe can get them in a better fincial state than someone who protects womens rights for example. Some concerns may take the backburner over other ones. In my opinion, Americans missed a real opportunity when Bernie Sanders didn’t make it further in the process. Even if a Republican had succeeded him, it’s possible that the political landscape might feel less polarized. I try to be understanding of both sides in politics. My general rule is not to lead with hate, give into hate or justify hate towards a group of people for their beliefs. Everyone should have the right to safety in their country. I also think social media is putting fear into people more than necessary. For example, Trump doesn't have the authority to make abortion illegal in all states and the society won't change and all of a sudden become violent towards people for no reason. That is not how the general public wants to live.

First and foremost I want to thank you for such a great comment. Well thought out and considered, carefully constructed, incredibly respectful and with context. I just think people should be much more engaged politically and not ride in on their emotions and personal feelings. We all, all of us need to research things, really look into things, see where the blame for rising costs actually lies etc. Prices for all things groceries and fuel related have been high since right after covid, in some places during or before. The world over. Trump lied, all the time, and he'll do exactly what he did last time but way worse. All about him and those that benefit him, until they don't. Unfortunately on this very day I've seen quite a few social media posts, with videos, of emboldened maga being outright hateful, mostly to black people. A few of them titled... "And so it begins....

You channel is great. But I can’t agree with anything your saying! What’s happened is democracy, you should celebrate it. Also, Trump was president for 4 years from 2016, but there was no removal of rights, for women, LBGTQ or any other minority group. Everyone in the USA will thrive under this new freedom loving and fair President. Things will Improve, please don’t wallow in victimhood, your better than that and people listen to you.

Roe v Wade. Please pay attention. Also you might want to read Project 2025, your view of what is to come is massively skewed.
@markandjanice62342 ай бұрын
If your talking about abortion, Trump will leave this to individual States to decide on policy. Project 25 is about putting the US constitution back at the forefront of American life, especially the 1st amendment, the paper still promotes freedom and liberty. I don’t think your view of the world is skewed, I respect that it’s just different than mine! But that’s the problem with the left, “if you don’t hold the same world view as theirs, your a bad person”

It took me a while to find this comment. @ThoseVeganGuys pay attention to what you're being told here, and research further. My Mrs watches your channel and I sometimes watch with her, and I think you and Jason are great, but you need to look at Trump's record compared to the reigns of Obama and Biden either side of his first tenure as president. It's enlightening

@@ThoseVeganGuysOh yes I have. The Democrats (that name is now laughable) tried to subvert democracy, weaponise the courts etc, all supported by the increasingly insignificant MSM. The American people saw through it. It might have been different if they chose an intelligent candidate, with a modicum of substance, but they chose Kamala and handed over the election on a plate.
