This video was very helpful! I am constantly adjusting my routine to target need areas. I like your approach of keeping the same set of exercises for one month with discrete goals and having an A and B day. I am going to pattern my routine after this! Thank you

I realize this is an old video, so I may not get a response, but here goes anyway: This is a great video! I need to work on many aspects of my playing but range and endurance are at the top of the list. Are there any specific types of exercises you'd add to work on those? Thanks, much.

I’ve got two videos about these topics. An older one titled “Trumpet Fundamentals: Upper Register” and another titled “A Guide To Developing Endurance and Power”. I’d start there!

I know I'm late to the party, since this video is 2 years old now! But on your low etudes, do you leave the 3rd tuning slide all the way out to get to the low F, and use alternate fingering for the rest of the notes? Or do you just throw it way out there when you need to and use normal fingering most of the time?

For the Snedecor etudes, I try to play as "normal" as I can, and find a spot in the music where I can get the slide out before any low F's. You end up having to play a few other notes with alternate fingers, but it's better than the whole etude.

I liked your low note drills but how do you prevent the lips from spreading when going back and forth from middle register to low register? This seems to be a common problem and expanding scales don't seem to help.

This is really difficult to answer with certainty without hearing you, but it's possible that you might be dropping your jaw to play low instead of bringing the embouchure forward. Bringing it forward helps keep focus in your airstream and helps the low register feel more similar to the rest of the trumpet range.

@@RyanBeachtrumpet I will give that a look, my sound and projection on low notes is very full but after playing in the middle or high register for a bit the transition to low gets muddled and I have to reset the embouchure. Thanks for your time. BTW, I've been lifting heavy for 33 years now so keep it up!

più che una tromba sembra il suono di un flicorno e molte note sembrano stonate
