So Cursed Blade seems way too risky. Trump says that sometimes health doesnt matter, but there is a point of no return when it comes to managing it. You want to chip away at your own health to make favorable trades, not take a massive nose dive in 1 turn for trying to kill a Leper Gnome. Would Cursed Blade be okay if its text was changed to "Take double damage whenever you attack" or "Take double damage during your turn"?

So it basically exists just for the specific circumstances where your opponent plays sylvanas before you can MC but while you have minions on the board you can't afford to lose? I just don't see that as worthwhile. Control priest's scarcest resource is a lack of deckslots. Can you really justify playing entomb over, say, lightbomb? I could maybe see the argument to remove a minion threat for it in a meta where you'd also play MC, but that seems sketchy and we still live in the world of fast decks.

+Darthelmet Entomb, as you say, is really good in control match-ups and probably better than MC for a number of reasons: 1) MC takes up your whole turn, so limits your plays 2) The only benefit MC gives you is tempo, because you immediately have the card in play, but as a Control Priest you don't care about tempo 3) You'd much rather be able to have control over when to play your opponent's card and MC doesn't give you that control 4) Entomb gives you access to the battle cry of certain cards while MC doesn't (in particular Varian, Alex, Dr Boom)

I definitely think that entomb might work in dragon priest, currently running 2 SW deaths against secret paladdins, MC and Tirion as well as a harrison jones, Entomb will work well against tirion as it'll take him and his death rattle.

+Anthony Yan I think Entomb works better in Control Priest than Dragon Priest. Dragon Priest is a tempo-driven deck and Entomb is anti-synergistic because it does not generate tempo (6 cost removal is a lot). Dragon Priest would prefer to rely on cheap tempo-removal spells like the Shadow-Words or Voljin to continue to gain tempo whilst removing threats. Works pretty well in Control Priest which is playing for card advantage and value as Entomb is an inherent 2-for-1. The high mana cost and slowness of the card is not important to Control Priest as they don't really care about tempo.

+aosxion Entomb is not a 2-for-1 at all. Yeah, you put it in your deck, but you don't draw it. It doesn't give you card advantage at all. You're playing one card to remove one card; it's, unsurprisingly, 1-for-1. Mind Control is a two for one: you remove their minion and get it as your own already on the board. Sap is a 0 for one, as you put the card right back in the opponent's hand (but obviously it's still useful as a tempo play or to get around taunt or the like). But Entomb is a simple 1-for-1 removal that gives you an extra card in your deck, something that wouldn't matter unless you were going to draw all yours and lose to fatigue unless you had one more card.

You may see value on Cursed Blade, but honestly, you'd have to have a deathwish to play that. It's not every damage your hero takes when you swing the weapon. It's double the damage as long as you have the weapon equipped. If it was a 4/2 then I would say it's worth it, but putting myself at the mercy to massive damage just to have a Stormforged Axe isn't worth it when for one extra mana I can just have a Fiery War Axe.

Okay here is a thing people might not have noticed with curse of rafaam: It count's as a spell cast by your opponent and he HAS to cast it or continue to take damage. Stonesplinter Trogg, Burly Rockjaw Trogg and Troggzor profit from that. Now think about a Warlock-Deck using lorewalker cho, combine it with troggs and that curse. Now imagine a deck that relies on giving enemies spells that he either can't play or gives him drawbacks. Like Demonfuse (needs a demon), Sacrificial Pact, Soulfire, Demonwrath, Sense Demons, Fist of jaraxxus. But in order to make that work, we would need a few more curses. One that heals, one that gives spelldamage, one that lowers manacosts etc. If you would combine that with lorewalker and troggs it would be quite strong.

Looking back, pretty good predictions with the possible exceptions of Entomb (depending on how viable control priest gets as it's just now taking off), and Reliquary Seeker. For reliquary zoo locks it's pretty easy to flood the board with haunted creepers, echoing ooze, implosion, and imp gang boss. Plus the synergy with Brann for a 1 mana 9/9 is a nice bonus. I get a 5/5 about 50% of the time, and 9/9 about 10% of the time, but I tend to pick a third Seeker when I play Dark Peddler. Since you're flooding the board you can now play Gormok, and ofc Dr Boom helps to fill the board too. Just noticed Reynad got to Rank 4 legend with this, and is running two Sea Giants to take advantage of the flood.

+Rhyme with dread steads its impossible to have 7 of them on the board because the kelthuzad or baron Riverdare would have occupied that space previously. Technical if you could play that 7th dread steed from your hand but that would be a major misplay. As for the only having 5 dread Stead's on the board the card is a one cost minion and is very likely to be played with another card. idk it might see some testing in this already experimental deck.

Except that if you want a big minion to go with mass dreadsteeds, you can already play Anima Golem. The fact that this card is 1 mana doesn't even matter. If you have out 6 dreadsteeds you aren't going to be able to play more than 1 minion anyway, so the 5 mana you save would have to entirely go into spells for this to be better than anima golem, but most dreadsteed decks people have tried are minion-centric and I think rightly so since you can't make dreadsteed effective unless you aren't behind too far on tempo. Maybe there is some spell heavy dreadsteed deck we're missing which would allow this card to be considerable. But unless that happens, it isn't worth it.

In non-dragon Control Priest with Justicar "Really late games" happen 4 games out 5, because the main problem of the deck is that, while it has amazing survivability, it lacks threats, because you have to play so many midrange board contest, removal, and board clear cards. And Entomb is both removal and a threat at the same time, which is exactly what Control Priest needs.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, Cursed Blade is worse than what you described because in any situation where the opponent can deal damage to face while it's equipped, that damage is also doubled. (i.e., the card text is not "When your hero takes damage while attacking, double it" so it should be like an aura/ongoing effect.) The card is unplayable in the late game -- against Mage, for example, you're saying "here, please have a 12 damage fireball". (Other drawback cards, like Zombie Chow, tend to not be quite so horrendous in that situation.) So I can't see it being played in arena. Even in a less aggro meta, that opportunity is too tantalizing, even against a class that can armor back up pretty well.

Just wondering how does Tunnel Trogg work. It says "gain 1 attack per locked mana crystal", not "gain 1 attack when you lock your mana crystal". So I think Trump gets the card wrong. In his scenario where "Turn 1 Trogg, Turn 2 totem golem, Turns Spirit", you don't get "a 4/3", you get a 2/3 on Turn 2, a 3/3 on turn 3 and a 1/3 on Turn 4 if you don't play another overload card. What does the others think?

I think Curse of Rafaam is a bit underrated because if you played it in a handlock/control style Warlock deck it could be a good combo with a taunt setup. If you played one or two of those it would force the opponent to waste mana removing it and completely wreck their next turn strategy. It's almost like a slower Lotheb but trading the minion value for making all the opponents cards "cost 2 more" when they decide to remove it from hand. Still not an amazing card but is certainly worth a shot and is properly valued as a common.

Also, Excavated Evil is great against aggro because when the opponent draws it, they can't use it because it will probably kill more of their minions than yours, so they drew a dead card instead of lethal direct damage.

Really confused how Tunnel Trogg works. What counts as a "locked mana crystal"? We know overload occurs over 2 turns, so when does it count locked crystals? That said it seems to have a cumulative effect so overloading twice in a turn will make it go out of control.

The "silence" is a big thing for entomb, you're able to remove really sticky minions or minions with deathrattle (i.e. Sylvanas, Shredder/Sky Golem, Ysera). I might consider running a one of this card instead of Holy Fire (which is also mostly just used for removal).

I think you're super wrong about entomb. Priest plays a lot of control decks and removing a big threat and adding it to your eventual arsenal in a control/fatigue match is HUGE

+ApolloNik we have no weapon with an effect like this yet, but the card text on gladiators longbow, that specifies 'while attacking' i would assume it's active at all times

It would be really broken to Blingtron your Warrior opponent into that weapon on your turn with them sitting at 30 health and 30 armor and hit them for 30 damage and kill them.

and how would you do 30 damage on 5 mana? if you have creatures on the board they will not be at 30 armor anyways.. a fringe scenario, not broken

I'm a little more optimistic about Entomb. In my decks that run one-of Holy Fire I'll trade that for one-of Entomb and see how it works out. It's the same cost and the same function so it won't be hard to make the swap. It's a little weaker against aggro decks since you don't get the heal but it's a direct upgrade against pretty much any other type of deck.

Surprised there was no mention of a Neptulon combo with Everyfin. Depending on what you draw you could play 2-4 murlocs then buff your whole board the turn after Neptulon, and with many murlocs buffing each other as well you'll have one scary ass board... ... still not as scary as a totem board + bloodlust though.

Trump, I'm pretty sure Reliquary Seeker was a setup for Dreadsteed decks. :P Also I think Museum Curator could be a 2/2 because Mad Scientist is a 2/2 and it puts your secret into play, which is insane tempo, whereas these Discover cards only put them into your hand, which means you still have to spend the mana to play them and you're going to be losing out on tempo playing your 1/2 that a 2/3 or 3/2 can take out and then trade into your 3 drop as well.

So the dream scenario trump described for tunnel trogg is basically... Tempo Mage? But with different spells and no flame waker has overload but plays faster. And shaman has ok burst too. Sounds like tempo shaman

I'm kinda of surprised how.. err negative(?) he is about Unearthened Raptor and Tomb Pillager. All my senses are tingling for the amount of decks I want to try to build with these classes in combination with Anub'arak and more...! Really really solid minions imo.

+Lepa TheWarrior Yeah overall its not going to help you win, but still a fun card and lets say turn 10, you drop hobgoblin, 2 voidwalkers, haunted creeper, 2 argent squires, and the reliquary seeker. Its at least a solid combo to consider.

Tomb Pillager: "Add a Coin to your hand." Cutpurse: "Add the Coin to your hand" It's like Blizzard isn't even trying to be consistent. They've only made 1 other cards with this effect and they didn't bother go look at them for wording. They say they take months to carefully create cards but they probably just tell the intern to go generate new cards.

(Trogg > Mana Wyrm Unbound > Flamewaker Ancestral Knowledge > Arcane Intellect Totem Golem > Shielded Minibot Tuskarr Totemic > Muster for Battle Lightning Storm > Consecration Everyfin is Awesome > Cenarius, Power of the Wild, etc etc.)

Smokestacks They both remove 4 health worth of stuff, and Minibot has the value of a 3 mana card since Divine Shield is worth 0.5, but two cards in one puts It up.

Smokestacks They're pretty comparable. They both trade for a 3/2 and then do some damage to the turn 3 play. The difference is, Shielded minibot doesn't die to mortal coil, hero powers, and 1 drops, and doesn't fuck your Tempo. The only Gravy that Shamans get is Tuskarr Totemic randoming Totem Golem. That's just about the only thing notably about Shamans right now, and it's the first thing they've had yet in Hearthstone.
