Childhood was epic in the seventies. Missing Primary school and lying on the couch with a Lemsip watching Trumpton, Paperplay and the morning run of Play School trying to wish that today's window would be the arched one. Life was not simpler but we actually had an enviable childhood. Outside on a space hopper, rolling Action Man's armored car down the garden, and watching as Evel Knievel's stunt bike jumped your mum's flower bed while your sister borrowed your action man talking commander to go camping with her Sindy doll in her yellow beach buggy *the one I used to borrow from time to time so that Action Man had an off road vehicle. Bless Trumpton, Magic Roundabout, Rupert, Mary, Mungo and Midge, the Wombles, Mr Ben, The Flumps (shit , I could go on forever) but bless the fact that I had a childhood filled with such vivid memories and could disappear for hours outside without anyone freaking out, Unfortunately, todays kids will never have such memories, just phone aps :(

I will join the band of comments that make me remember, with a tear in my eye. 1970s England, I wouldn't even know my age ... but I was under 10. Not had a kiss, a dance or anything much.... life was full of experiences and fun. 50 now, happily married, living in Ireland 2 ace young kids, reliving my childhood through them....life has been GOOD !! BUT I would love to go back, just for the day, cuddle mum n dad, say thank you, take them down the Brickmakers Arms for a night on the fizz. I never got the chance

Pure nostalgia. Still mesmarised by that clock, as I originally was. Trumpton and Camberwick Green were probably the most memorable. Brian Cant was so cool way back in the early-mid 70s with Playschool, Playaway ... others, can anyone remember?
@Ozymandi_as3 ай бұрын
Children would surely be calmer and better behaved if this was still widely available to them! Not to mention more nicely spoken. Across Trumpton, Chigley and Camberwick Green, we were given our first and most important lessons in civics. It was a kinder, more orderly and less intimidating world. I could weep for our lost innocence!

It's good that Trumpton didn't fall into the CGI reboot trap which Postman Pat, Fireman Sam, and Bob the Builder all failed to avoid.
@richallenxbox1976 Жыл бұрын
Trumpton wouldn't be the same in CGI, and would lose the "charm" of the original puppets. Like in 2005 when they did that naff CGI remake of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, none of the charm of the 60s original.

Up to very recently Nick Jr was still showing Trumpton (as well as Camberwick Green, Chigley and assorted other old kids show) in a clssic kids strand at about 9pm - tragically they've stopped now and it's just current shows played right though. Shame as my 4 year old was loving seeing the shows daddy watched at her age, and i was having a blast seeing them again. Surely in this day and age we can get a classic kids show channel? We've got them for everything else!
