I've been really looking into getting a disc resurfacing machine. I was hesitant on the JFJ Easy Pro simply due to the mixed reviews. You have me sold on it, though. With good practices, it's obvious discs can really come out amazing. You definitely deserve more subs, IMO. Great video!

Nice thorough video...I have few hundred games and cds to go through and list on ebay. I am impressed with the results. Ebay has consumed my soul / house is a warehouse of stuff / tons of projects but also all these discs setting around too :) I don't even have time to play games in my collection.

Lol 😂 i know the feeling except mine is Walmart. Funny how repairing the games and just tinkering with this stuff can sometimes feel almost as good as playing them lol.

Just because a game actually boots up, doesn't mean it will be playable all the way through. I generally rip every disc I resurface (if possible) to ensure the entire disc can be read. This is the only way to ensure the entire disc is readable. You can generally rip CD/DVD games using a PC but that is not always the case. OG XBOX games require a modded XBOX, Wii/WiiU games required a modded Wii/WiiU as console as well. Same goes for XBOX 360 games. I haven't tried resurfacing any PS4/XBOX One games nor have I ever tried ripping them so I don't know exactly how they would behave.

Yea I mention this when I test the games at the end of the video. That there could always be a "bad data spot" on the disc and whenever you hit a certain part of the game or try to access a certain mode, it will just freeze up on that specific spot each and every time. Walmart has a 90 day refund period, so I usually just do quick tests on games that were in really bad shape, and if they pass that and at some point the customer has an issue they can refund it without issue. Unless they have visual pitting like with NFL Street, those do not get sold because I don't trust the pitted area to work correctly if it is ever needed for data.

Okay I am new to your video. I been using JFJ for about 5 years. I can make a xbox 360 disc look like an elm eco master hit it, but when I do PS2 games OMG..always swirly central, cat scratching board, skateboarding on disc, or somebody's little baby used it as a chew toy. I am going to try your set up. and sub to you youngster. I will see if this will give me the edge on those PS2 joints. Thank you and have a great day!

Lol yea the PS2 games can be tricky. I found that good product and pads are the key to mastering those. The JFJ stuff just doesn’t seem to like the PS2 games. Hope the video ended up helping!

Thank you so much for a great video! Was fun to watch. I love my JFJ and i finally got a PS1 Black Disc with a mirror finnish. I used a Rupes fine polishing pad, did look a lot like the Bauer one, they dont sell Bauer in my country. I use Maguiars Ultimate Coundpond and Polish. Do you use the sandpaper from JFJ, or do you use something else?

@@GamingRenewedLLC You know how your compounds are mis matching. Which matching series will you go for next time you have to buy? Also, how firm is your bauer yellow pad in comparison to the JFJ cutting pad. I can't get bauer in canada and the cutting pad I got seems to soft and doesn't do as well as the jfj one.
@GamingRenewedLLC
@GamingRenewedLLC 4 ай бұрын
The 3D ACA 510 and 520 would be the match i use. The yellow pad is a polishing pad, so it isn't a cut pad really. You could end with the yellow pad if you wanted, but I use the white finishing pad for even better results after the yellow pad. I would say the cutting pad jfj uses is more like a medium cut, which would be the green pad for Bauer. I just don't like the polish pad jfj uses. Doesn't seem like it gives a good finish.

I'm curious if you have previously had issues with the bauer pads self-destructing during operation? If so, was there any steps you took to prevent this? Also, what does your pad "break-in period" look like/consist of?
@GamingRenewedLLC
@GamingRenewedLLC 2 ай бұрын
I never have but i have had others have this issue. So far each of them had one thing in common. The disc plate on their JFJ has a circle near the edge of the disc plate. They grinded that flush and then it never ate the pad again. JFJ must have put that there to ruin non-JFJ pads at some point.

For the games that have pitting I would rub some carnauba wax on it and then run it through the machine typically it will fill in the pit before I upgraded to my 3M sauce for the jfj. I saved alot of heavy hitters using the wax the only caveat is that it would make the pads hard after it dried up but you can leave the pads soaking in water and press out most of the old compound and wax out of it and it should make the pads softer again.

Not sure if you mentioned this, but which ended up having better results Meguiar or 3D? We’re just getting into the JFJ, so I’ve been hitting KZbin up for guidance and ran into your channel! Also I watched your GameCube tutorial with the adapter piece for the JFJ. Is that a must have for GameCube games or do you think we can buy a separate set of regular pads specifically for GameCube games? Just seeing if we can avoid that extra step lol
@matthewcook3356

Also where do you order or buy your 600/1200 grit pads? I see the links for the yellow and white ones.
@GamingRenewedLLC
@GamingRenewedLLC 5 ай бұрын
Honestly it probably would just be personal preference regarding whether to use Meguiars or 3D. They both are great, but i lean towards 3D. It doesn’t get all hard in the top of it like Meguairs does and gets harder to squeeze out. Of course maybe if i closed them more often that wouldn’t happen lol. But i like 3D. Yea you have to have the Gamecube adapter or else it will cut into the pads if you put a Gamecube game on the regular sized back plate. I tried that and it shredded my pad pretty good.

Link for replacement coarse (600) and soft (1200) sandpaper here : www.jfjeasypro.com/product-category/supplies/easy-pro-supplies/ Also remember that the sandpaper just sticks on the black pads. So you can pull it off and put another new sandpaper piece on the black pad when it is worn out. The black pads you stick them on is the same link. I haven’t needed to replace the black pads just the sandpaper itself.

Messaging through here again… So do you recommend resurfacing every game, even if they don’t need it? Just to get it clean? Or just for games that are not reading? For deeper scratches, sanding is the go-to option correct? But that is also with the risk of damaging the disc in terms of the save data or how far the disc can be read in game. So how would you determine when to just buff a disc or use the sander? Thanks again!
@matthewcook3356
@matthewcook3356 4 ай бұрын
Or I guess what I’m asking is, do you have a process for each disc? Like a starting point then a specific process for the depth of the scratches. Because if you have some kind of code that would be sick lol

I just got my JFJ machine in the mail today (yay). There is a place online called Super Arbor that sells Bauer 6" coarse / medium / fine / finishing pads - $10 each - How long do the pads generally last? I got about 250- mabe 300 discs to do. Ever use the coarse pad for really bad discs?
@GamingRenewedLLC
@GamingRenewedLLC 17 күн бұрын
Never really use the coarse pad because if its that bad its best to sand IMO. Now whether or not the Bauer pad would last through the 250-300 discs you have will depend on the buffing/polishing time per disc. Some can be good with 20secs and some need a full 2min cycle. Just depends. I’d say you definitely will get 200 out of a pad though. Not sure about the full 300 unless you get quite a few 20 sec runs.

Yea i am trying to get it dialed in right first. Right now the drip feed is too fast, so i have to get a slower drip end and try that out. I also have to find a way to get it to drip into a soft brush or something that will apply it to the pad without the pad slinging it off while its running lol. But if/when i ever get it right, a video is definitely going up with how to do it.

What is the water reservoir you have next to the JFJ? And the cable hanging in the lid of the JFJ?
@GamingRenewedLLC

Lol 😂 so i basically built a automatic water feeding system that drips water into the jfj directly into the pads while it runs. However, it is still being tweaked. I need to get a slower drip end and also find a way to stop it from immediately slinging the drips all over the place lol. If i get it where i want it, then I’ll do a video and show how to set it up. Right now i dont see much of an advantage from just spraying the disc with water pre cycle. But maybe i might if its working right 🤷🏽‍♂️ Edit: Just to clarify, it was not running during the video in case you (or anyone else) was wondering.

@@GamingRenewedLLCThat is awesome. I was thinking about doing the same and seeing this in your video inspired me to try. Currently in the process of putting together the motorised pump, and have a bottle fed dripper (like an indoor plant watering system). The main issue I’m having is having to syringe out the water from inside the JFJ. Have you had much luck yet? I’m also trying to build my own dirty water pump (and wanting to use my Arduino to automate it) as the ones at the store are way too big and just don’t work.

Yea i was having that issue too. Water would buildup in the bottom over time and honestly i just tipped it upside down to get it out. Whatever was left i got up with a towel. You can pull straight up on the black plate in the bottom of the JFJ to remove it. Makes it way easier to clean
