5 More HORRIBLE Discs for the JFJ to Fix

Hello,thanks for the videos they have helped me a lot. Do you have any thoughts on if the Milwaukee pads were as good as the Bauer pads, or not as good? Thank you.

I would recommend the Bauer over Milwaukee.

@@GamingRenewedLLC Both brands are now nearly impossible to find for me. :( The one that I can get doesn't seem like one you've used before 6 in. Medium Foam Polishing Pad, Green. Bauer. Clearance for $5 locally. The link you put for the white one ends up as a 404 on the website. I was able to find 2 of those a few hours away, but the yellow one remains a 3+ hour commute away to get. :( And the Home Depot black/red pack is out of stock on their website. For what reason do you like Bauer more than Milwaukee? I just watched your Milwaukee video and not having to cut them down is nice, but you did have to do multiple passes with the 2 pads. Do they not do as well or last as long as the Bauer? Maybe eBay has some Bauer....aaaah... :)

I just got some pads from 3D and Chemical Guys to do a video on. Should be coming in the next few days or so. 3D ones are pricey but the Chemical Guys pads are around $8 a piece.

The Bauer would be my first choice. Just a slight step above the Milwaukee pads

Probably by month 2 of having the jfj. Started learning that resurfacing discs was very similar to buffing clear coats and then started looking for better products to replace the jfj stuff. I use the 3D products now and never looked back

Yea. You can get good results with the plastix but it ends up boiling down to personal preference usually. I just like the 3D stuff the best right now. But can’t go wrong with meguairs

I’ve been using the Bauer foam pads that you recommended but I’ve been having trouble with the white ultra fine pad. After cleaning a few discs the pad starts to get shredded from the discs, I make sure that there is no cracks on the disc and that it is tightened properly but I’ve already had to go through 3 pads. Any tips or suggestions to help prevent this?

Another person said they were getting the same issue. Apparently, their backing plate had a circle cut into it near the edge. Does your plate have that?

I believe it does. Would it just need to be sanded down?

Yea. Thats what stopped it from happening for them. Apparently, it’s something JFJ started doing now. Probably to sabotage non-JFJ pads. Mine never had that, but i got mine about two years ago

Hey I saw the link that you sent me for the black pads on the other video, but still a little confused. Is the “JFJ sanding pad” on the JFJ website for both the 600/1200 grit? Or am I missing something? How do you know which one is which? Also for the 3D solution, can you clarify when to use the cutting or polish? Do you just always use the polishing 520 at the end to clean it up? So when do you use the cutting?

Here is the link for the coarse and soft pads: Coarse: www.jfjeasypro.com/product/coarse-sandpaper/ Soft: www.jfjeasypro.com/product/soft-sandpaper/ It will say on the package if it is soft or coarse. Once you place it on the black pad, make sure you write a C or S on them to remember which is which. For the 3D, I normally use the cutting compound with the yellow Bauer pad, or whatever pad you are using for the buffing stage. Then use the polish for the pad you are using for the polish stage. I normally use it with the white Bauer pad.

But last thing… promise I won’t bother you for a while lol Do you mind making some sort of shortcut guide? In terms of different situations for discs. For example… Like if a disc can be read, but has a few scratches so you just want to clean it up, what are the steps you take for that? Or if a disc can be read sometimes, has a bunch of scratches, but none of them are super deep, what are those steps? Or if a disc has like one very deep scratch compared to a disc that has a multiple deep scratches, do you do the same thing for those discs? And so on. If there are any other situations that have their own path! Thanks again!

Sounds good thanks! The game you tested and worked before you resurfaced (I think it was halo), I did something similar and now the game doesn’t boot up? Is that something I did wrong on my end? Just curious so I don’t keep making that mistake. The disc worked before I resurfaced it. Just had a bunch of scratches on it. Ran it through the yellow pad for 2 min, then the white pad for a minute. Just to get the scratches and what not off. Is that wrong to do? Now the game doesn’t boot up lol

Wouldn’t say it’s wrong but I’ve had games not work after resurfacing them. Sometimes it happens. As long as it doesn’t happen often for you, then you are fine.

The sanding process is making my discs unreadable. Went with similar timing. Disc would originally boot but stop working and after sanding and buffing no longer readable. Any recommendations?

Are the discs readable before the sanding/buffing process? Also, what is similar timing? How long are you sanding each grit?

@ yeah they were readable. Did 10 seconds on coarse then 20 seconds on soft. Then buffed with compound. I’m also using the sandpaper that came with the unit.

Hi, I have a question about Blu Ray format games, can they also be polished?

I’ve polished ones without any problems and the JFJ says it’s Blu Ray safe.

so i put a new piece of light sand paper and new piece of corse sanding paper and the problem im having is the sanding paper is leaving swirls Permanant on the disc im trying to repair cause even if i polish for 2 min the swirls will still be there so i dont sand it and just buff/ polish it will clean it with no swirls. So has anyone had this happen and have a solution?

Did you get the replacement sandpaper from jfj? I have only used their sandpaper.

@@GamingRenewedLLC no i have bauer 600 grit and Hercules 1200 grit. thing is i have used these before with zero swirls so not sure to be honest.

Hmm well there probably is some debris in the sand paper that is causing the swirls. Might have to clean the sandpaper and see if it stops. Which one is leaving the swirls? Also, do you make sure to wipe the disc clean in between sanding cycles? If you don’t wipe the disc then sometimes debris from one cycle can stay on the disc and then cause swirls when you run the next higher grit cycle.
