I wish, never even heard of Lincoln Logs until I started building this cabin on KZbin and people kept mentioning it. I did have plenty of forest and real trees, sticks, and stones though. I guess that forced the creativity.

I just started watching your channel and liked it right off. It reminds me a lot of Shawn James - when he built his first cabin. It was all done with the use of hand tools to create all the joinery. With this esposide being the long version", I very much like it.

You certainly have a eye for detail on how to build your cabin. Keep the videos as they are, they are very informative to the process. How come you've got to dismantle and move the cabin ?
@TrustinTimber
@TrustinTimber 3 жыл бұрын
That's always been the plan. I designed it so it would be easy to take apart. It's going to go much more North. This is where I could harvest the trees and it's only a 45 drive from my house, vs. 2-4 hours where it will likly end up. Just made it easier to get out here for a days work and dry fit everything here while the logs are drying. Also, we don't own this property or the property it will go on yet. Still saving.

Awesome work. Have you ever made a mistake on a log that made it unusable and had to start over?
@TrustinTimber
@TrustinTimber 3 жыл бұрын
Actually no. I learnt from my friend Tom who makes birch bark canoes. He said, if I rush it takes for ever. So he just works slow and carefully. The reason is we are working with natural materials that take time to dry. I only have so many big logs so I can't afford to make a mistake. That could possibly mean felling another tree and waiting a year for it to dry. I have made plenty of small mistakes but nothing that has wasted a good log yet. Knock on wood;)

@@TrustinTimber Tom taught you well, you're a master at the craft already. I do a fair amount of metal fabrication and appreciate completing a task without any errors. Well, two reasons really. #1 - This will probably get moved a few hours drive from my house. Having it here allows me to get out here more often to work on it and this is where the trees where that I could harvest to build it. 2nd, we don't own the land yet. We're still looking and saving for the perfect property.
