I taught myself the Hebrew alphabet by reading this Psalm. I used to read it daily, praying each verse wholeheartedly, and if my mind wandered, I would stop and go back to the beginning of the stanza, but reciting each letter of each preceding stanza. It is now my go to prayer whenever I feel oppressed or feel that my soul is clinging to the dust. The best part of praying this tehillim is that the Master, leads me through individual life circumstances that allow me understand each verse by knowing what it is like to cry out from my heart and have Him have answered! Sometimes He has even given me a short vision of me in an experience...such as "your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my Path" He had me with one of those strap on headlamps and he turned it on with a click sound, and it lit up the ground at my feet! Every night at midnight, my alarm will go off, I rise to my feet, lift my hands up and Praise Him for His Righteous Right Rulings. Living each prayer is the ONLY way to truly understanding His Words! I encourage everyone to wholeheartedly pray every Psalm, but for real this one helps you pray and understand all of His Word. He will do the same for you as He has done for me!

I was driving down the road, listening to this. I had just finished my granola bar and took a mouthful of water to wash it down when he said "a cat arrived". I first inhaled some of the granola water and then spit the rest out on my lap and steering wheel as I looked for a place to pull off since I could hardly breathe or see. Obviously I lived to tell the story and I say I do appreciate not only the humor but especially the sound convicting teaching.

Pastor Begg, if we hold fast to psalm 119 and this is truly the joy of our heart, then this shall be read over and over and we should hold true to it. We shall live and it breathe it. I will Meditate on this for all my days . I’m not sure that if we compromise we hold fast to the Lords way, his laws, precepts ordinances , seems like we do our own way if we compromise. I see that we both should want to hold fast to this psalm . Much love brother than you for your teaching of Gods Word and truth

The key to understanding Psalm 119 is knowing Who is praying it. Psalm 119 is Yahshua's prayer in praise of the law because it was His path to life. The law required Him to give His life to save us. So the law was specifically to and for Him to fulfill by offering Himself as our Sacrifice. In Psalm 119 Yahshua prays at least 16 times for YAH to raise Him from the dead because of His obedience to the law in giving His life. There is a promise of life in the law to the Man Who obeyed it. In Psalm 119 Yahshua took an oath to obey and trusted His Father to keep the promise in the law and raise Him from the dead. I could go on. I have done a couple small papers on it if you are interested. Understanding the promise of life in the law to Yahshua and that Psalm 119 is His prayer is the key to understanding Scripture.

With all due respect to the pastor, I am amazed at the blindness, of some "devout" men, to see the Truth in the Word. How can you follow the written instructions of God without performing the physical requirements God has methodically spelled out for us to do in all His Word? The Law is all Torah. The 10 commandments were just the beginning. The Ancients needed to follow all the Law because they were told to by the Creator of the Universe. They were also given the opportunity to believe in the salvational provision of the Father, a Messiah to come. Jesus came and did exactly what He heard from the Father. He obeyed the Torah and also believed in the salvational provision of the Father, being chosen as the Messiah. Scriptures have not changed nor has the gospel message been altered from the beginning until now, except by man. Today we are to follow the Law because we are told to by the Father, the Creator of the Universe. Additionally, we find a perfect example (of how to follow every dot and tiddle of the Law) in the Son. Not only did He exemplify to perfection obedience to the Law, but He also admonished His followers to do the same. Our Savior called this type of response "Love." It is a response of the heart displayed with authentic obedience, not just an emotional feeling of love. There are 70 plus scriptures admonishing the reader to keep the Law (aka commandments, instructions, ordinances, precepts, Torah.) How many times are we told to follow the judgements of our own heart? Only one that I am aware of in Eccl 11:9 where Solomon then warns of Father's judgement to those who do walk in their own merry little ways. The reoccurring theme on the heart of man is that it can't be trusted. It was not enough for the People of God to want to paint blood over their door in Egypt. Those who wanted to be free had to do it or suffer death in bondage. It was not enough for Peter to repent of his denial of His Savior and King. He had to turn and follow the Master, walking in His footsteps, making a commitment with his mind, body, and soul to follow His commands. It is not enough for man to acknowledge that the Law of God is written on our hearts with only a choice few needing to be actually observed. First, we have to accept the whole Law on our hearts as a "love letter to the soul" from our Creator, and as instructions authored by Him. We also have to accept the Law as Father Yah's ingenious path to a successful life. As the Law is being written on our hearts by the Holy Spirit, we can continue on the path of sanctification by learning and performing what it requires of us. This road can only be trodden by those with a deep love for the One who authored this life-giving-instruction-manual in the first place.

I would agree with most of what you have said, and maybe more of it after I draw closer to God and become more sanctified in my walk. Well said. I have been through every lie and every system to get to where I am today and I am grateful for those ahead of me their walk and faithful study of the Holy Word of God. God bless you.

The law has value, because God gave it! We also know, that we can’t keep it. That doesn’t mean I discharge it, BUT I rather relate to Romans 7&8 than the condemnation to have failed keeping the law!

So if the Father has not changed as he declares in His own word, then all of Psalms 119 still applies today. That also means that His Torah still applies today. And that is a verifiable fact through the bible. Read Acts 21. Without the revelation of the true spirit of Christ and not that of the anti-christ, people will forever read the bible and miss the truth of the words. I was 36 years Sunday Christian..... now I am 2 years Torah observant believer. Salvation by faith alone = true Obedience by Torah = true

I agree, once a man is truly born again, the Torah becomes his delight through progression of sanctification through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Saved by God, By God, For God.

Think about and pray about this... He says "those who dont obey are prone to the judgments of our own hearts about which Laws to follow and how to follow them"...think about it...this is what exactly what is happening when we take the 10 commandments and ignore the ones we choose to. Such as celebrating the Sabbath any day they choose when the Sabbath was set for us on the 7th day ...only. And when we dont celebrate HIS Feasts he gave to us....but we choose to ignore his whole Truth and instead we eat unclean foods, and do things like support abortion or celebrate manmade holidays of xmas, easter etc given to us by a Pope....and calling it Christian and asking God to bless it. But he says he hates those things. All that...is disobedience and God says in His word that he hates it.

I love this man of God, but find it weird he is talk about the 10 commandments. Do we keep the Sabbath? I guess the new testament is extremely clear about it. What I'm trying to say that old testament laws are not binding on the conscience of the new testament believers. That's not to say I can do whatever I want, because there are clear instructions in the new testament. In fact 9 out of the ten commandments are there and with no doubt I have to obey them. My biggest challenge is that we break the old testament law into categories and then decide what to follow and what not to follow. The whole of God's law is perfect.

I learning about this as well, and I'm learning about the different law categories, some Laws where speaking to the people of that time for specific reasons and culture issues.... that being said I agree the whole of Gods law is perfect and I would also add every word breathed into the bible by God, which is every word, is perfect, true and ever lasting.

Psalm 119 makes it perfectly clear, we are to follow the law! Quit trying to twist the words! YHWH law is how we show we love him! Yahusha (Jesus) did not do away with the law!! Matthew 5:1 8 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Romans 7: 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[a] a slave to the law of sin. Psalm 119: 142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth Matthew 23:1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. DO not misinterpret Paul’s writings! He is not against Torah in any way! 2 Peter 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Repent and learn the Law of YHWH! He is calling us! More and more, day by day!

Galatians 2:15-21 We are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. But if while seeking to be justified in Christ we ourselves have also been found to be sinners, is Christ then one who encourages sin? Absolutely not! But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God's law. For through the law I died to the law so that I may live to God. I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside God's grace, because if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing!

@@ericsaracosa2995 you're missing the point. Also you're an antinomian. Romans 6 What shall we say then? (A)Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can (B)we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us (C)who have been baptized (D)into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were (E)buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as (F)Christ was raised from the dead by (G)the glory of the Father, we too might walk in (H)newness of life. 5 For (I)if we have been united with him in (J)a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that (K)our old self[a] (L)was crucified with him in order that (M)the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For (N)one who has died (O)has been set free[b] from sin. 8 Now (P)if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that (Q)Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; (R)death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, (S)once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves (T)dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Let not (U)sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 (V)Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but (W)present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For (X)sin (Y)will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Slaves to Righteousness 15 What then? (Z)Are we to sin (AA)because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves (AB)to anyone as obedient slaves,[c] you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But (AC)thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the (AD)standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, (AE)having been set free from sin, (AF)have become slaves of righteousness. 19 (AG)I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For (AH)just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members (AI)as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. 20 (AJ)For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 (AK)But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things (AL)of which you are now ashamed? (AM)For the end of those things is death. 22 But now that you (AN)have been set free from sin and (AO)have become slaves of God, (AP)the fruit you get leads to sanctification and (AQ)its end, eternal life. 23 (AR)For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
