Dealing with Difficult People

Like a pilot that warns his passengers of upcoming turbulence, Paul cautioned Timothy about the difficult people he would encounter in ministry. Even within the church, he warned, there would be corrupt men and weak women that appeared to be godly but who were ruled by their love of self. How are ministers to approach such people? Alistair Begg examines Paul’s advice and encourages today’s church leaders to follow the apostle’s example, to cling to what they’ve learned, and to rest in Scripture’s authority.

I thank God for this preacher. I came across him while on my way home from my moms one night years ago. I remember trying to remember his name so i could look him up. It okly picked up on top of a mountain and I knew i may not hear his sermons on the radio again. Since then ive grown closer to the Lord by listening to his sermons. God bless you Mr Begg.

This is a public service announcement for those who are not familiar with Alistair Begg and the Truth For Life Ministry. You have just listened to a sermon by one of the most gifted and dedicated and knowledgeable ministers that you are ever likely to find on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. You would do yourself a great favor to take advantage of every oral and written message that you can find from this man and his church organization. They have a great deal to offer all who would be interested. For the record, I am not a member of this church but I am connected to them through our common faith Christ. If I was looking for a local church to attend it would be this one or one like it. They have been a great help to me through the internet alone. Many thanks to Truth For Life and Alistair Begg for reaching out through videos like this one.

Christians would not be led so easily astray if they read the Bible for themselves. I thank God that I grew up in a family that revered the Word of God. As I have gotten older, I am appalled at how far America has drifted from the Lord. I grieve for the terrible laws that have totally ignored God’s laws. More and more, I realize that this world is not my home. I am grateful for preachers who stay true to Almighty God. ❤

I did not grow up in a Christian church nor in a family that revered God. I only came to know Him through reading the scriptures. There I found what a sinner I was and how I was so desperately in need of a savior. Jesus the Christ. It is through Biblical world view teachers and preachers, I get more of an understanding of how depraved I really am. Sharing with others has become even more difficult in this day and age, yet so necessary. The risk is even greater for persecution whether light persecution or hard persecution. I’ve learned that if your not receiving some sort of persecution, your not serving God the way scripture says we ought to. God bless you for your teachings!

When my children were much younger, I had gotten into the habit of calling anyone who cut me off in traffic a "turkey." The Holy Spirit began convicting me of that kind of language, especially in front of the kids. I was only a couple of days into watching my tongue on that score, when, as I was driving across town, someone cut me off in traffic again. Though sorely tempted, instead of popping off in the usual way, I didn't say a thing. A few seconds of complete silence went by, when suddenly my 5-year-old son leaned forward from the backseat of the car, and I heard his little voice say, "Mama ... was that guy a turkey?"

I love how the word of God speaks to your inner man to reveal what is truly in your heart -that when you allow Jesus in, and you open up to him then the good work can begin for healing, deliverance, and restoration. When the truth comes in then lie can leave and freedom begins. Allowing God in is allowing everything else to be removed that is not of him. He came to set the captives free (that ungodly nature). Praise the Lord!

The way I understand "the last days" now is in context of God's prophetic week of 7 days being 7000 years (2 Peter 3:8). The first 4 days (4000 years) ended when Christ died for us & rose to glory. The last days are the two days we are now in (2000 years) of which we are close to the end. So those last days are the two days we are now in. This was revealed to me just this last week when reading from God's Word. It always puzzled me before.

I do not argue that there are those who enjoy their ears tickled and plenty of ticklers in the pulpit to satisfy. However, I often hear you mention America as such who are examples of this and not any other nation. hmmmm..... I imagine sin nature exists in all nations. I am thankful for the same boldness Paul had in Acts 13 towards Elymas is indeed the boldness you walk in for Christ and the gospel's sake!

Alistair Begg seems to be a humble, very knowledgeable, servant of Jesus Christ. I truly hope this is true. We never really know about preachers who have reached, celebrity status in the United States. Why? because they are, for the most part, unapproachable personally by the average, ordinary Christian. I've been through the Gospels a few times. I can't find one example of Jesus being unapproachable by average, ordinary people. In fact, the disciple who trained me, who had been used by Jesus to make hundreds of thousands of world impacting, multiplying true disciples of Jesus, was always personally reachable to anyone who cared to reach out to him. The most important thing he taught was the daily quiet time with God. Everything comes out of your quiet time, " he would say. He wrote a book on it. We have been having preachers and congregations, sermons once or twice and week, church programs, books on every subject imaginable, missionaries, and such for over nineteen hundred years. Not one of those activities was taught or demonstrated by Jesus in the gospels. When is the last time Alistair Begg spent all day healing the sick and casting out demons? I hope it was yesterday. How many world impacting, multiplying true disciples of Jesus, has Pastor Begg personally built? Like Jesus did? Is the congregation he pastors multiplying? Like the early church did? Acts 6:7. What was the last thing Jesus commanded his disciples to do? Mark 16:15. Matthew 28:-18-20. How many people have yet to hear the gospel? The Joshua project says 42 per cent of the people on this planet have never been told what Jesus did for them. If our celebrity preachers are doing such a wonderful job for Jesus, why is this the case? Why do they seem to be so focused on maintaining Christians in America? How well is that working? Jesus said we would know them by their fruits. What kind and how much fruit is actually being produced in a country (U.S.A.) that satan is pretty much taking to hell in a hand basket? Why do the vast majority of all these preachers seem to be so sure that building institutions is the way to accomplish God's objective here? What did Jesus build? People. What did they do? Whatever God told them to. Who did they listen to? The Holy Spirit. Do preachers like Alistair Begg have bad intentions? I don't think so. But the strategy of Jesus to reach every one in the world with the Gospel is not being taught or demonstrated by any of our celebrity preachers, to my knowledge. Why? We are not going to fix this world. Only Jesus here in person can do that. He is the only one who can eliminate the existence of satan here. Revelation 19,20,21,22. For that to happen, don't we have to reach the end of this age? What has to happen before the end of this age comes? Matthew 24:14. Dear Pastor Begg, do you really want to see this world changed into what God wants it to be? With Jesus here in person? And satan not? You could influence hundreds of thousands of people to start sharing the gospel with people who haven't heard. If 1.5 million of us reached 20 people per day in the right places (which we can easily do with our smart phones) we could reach just about everybody in about 6 months. If you actually did something like this, how happy do you think Jesus would be? Blessings

Why are there no "Christian" pastors that teach with any kind of compassion or empathy for the lost ? "Do not think higher of yourselves." "Consider what is better FOR OTHERS." "Love God and love others--if you do these you fullfilI the commandments." I listen after sermon after sermon and the main gist of most of them is to criticize the lost or the people in the church that aren't acting right, Or the sinners that are "others" and certainly not saved doesn't Corinthians 5 say 'We are to judge those within not those with out? Ouch! that God is the judge of those people? But so many sermons or messages are the US versus them mentality and we know Jesus had nothing but sympathy and compassion for those lowly sinners and those others and those that didn't know Him the ones he had issues with were the teachers, the self righteous, the ones that kept people from him or knowing God. Pastors should be making people know who they are IN Christ, who the Lord has made them blameless sinless fault free, Righteous in his eyes, no matter what we do like you said you can't lose your salvation yes you're still gonna sin but our position is in Christ and that's something to rejoice about something to be happy about and when we are so joy filled about our position then we can tell others what's on store for them if they would just seek out their Lord. WE HAVE THR MINISTRY OF THR MESSAGE OF RECONCILATION 1 cor 5:19,20 Paul says.. tell Others about their reconciliation to GOD! But so many message are railing against the homosexual, the government, the libs, the abortion Issue.... all the sinners 'out there'.... [Funny how we leave out all the sins we practice greed, adultery, lying, idolatry of money and power, covetousness etc etc. ] Pastor's and modern day Christianity totally missed the message of the messianic Jewry of the New Testament. Christianity has lost its way.

A reformer sees everyone who is not reformed or Calvinist, a difficult person!

Not true! You are genuinely judging and you need to take the plank out of your own eye before you take the speck out of the Calvinist’s eyes. The Bible commands us to “encourage one another and build each other up” go and do likewise!

Beware the law ofnthe beast it might be closer than we realize. Arm yourselves with christ. He's sent us all out in the world without him here for now. Make sure you have sold your cloak and bought a sword.

Arm yourselves with christ [sic]? Do you honestly think we can take you seriously when you trumpet such a childish moniker? Do you not perceive how your title sits so inappropriately in a Christian context? I urge you to take whatever insight you may have to clothe yourself in God's WORD.

@22:00 we are talking about Paul's letter to Timothy- why do you leave out the fact Paul in 1 Timothy chapter 2 says women shouldn't teach and that they should be silent? We have Priests and pastors caught up in embezzlement/greed and sexual immorality, but you think men are more trustworthy than women? Paul is dismissive of marriage -- but Jesus made it clear he was preparing for a wedding. If you are married, and you actually love your wife, and you understand that marriage is a Blessing, you would see clearly that Paul was making the path crooked. Also, Jesus makes it clear that there is ONE teacher, and it isn't Paul!

Great sermon! Just a bit vexed by lyrics/ references to Satanists like Dylan and Lenon 😬
