It's been a tradition for barely 200 years, and only because she got married around the time tabloid papers became a thing, and white was the most expensive colour of fabric at the time. People before that (and even for a long time after that) used to just wear their Sunday best. If they could afford to get a dress made, they'd often get it done in blue because blue was the colour of purity. (It's why the Virgin Mary was almost always depicted in blue in old art.)

guys i just remember that when i first watched this, the part when Zach immitated Ned saying "my name is Ned I love two things weddings and my wife" and Ned went along but like said "I love two things weddings and LOTR" - he did not try to include the "my wife" part which was super off brand for him. i was a little confused at the time because i thought it would be funnier and more like Ned if he said like "i love two things weddings and LOTR.. and my wife" something like that. it was his brand so i didn't understand why, especially because he went along with Zach who did say "my wife" ,but i didn't think about this much. now looking back maybe because Alex was on set and he didn't want to say that to make her feel upset or something? because in the past im sure Ned would find a way to include/mention his wife in everything. anyway i cant re watch try guys old videos without feeling uncomfortable. i cant even look at ned 😭
