As a Newfoundland dog owner myself, question two absolutely baffled me- ALL of the answers listed were true, so I figured it had to be a trick ‘all of the above’ type question. But seriously, everyone should have gotten points for that one. Newfoundland dogs have one of the largest lung capacities of any breed, which not only helps their incredible swimming abilities, but also gives them a booming bark capable of alerting their owners to potential danger. Newfoundland dogs have also been known to be able to rescue a staggering TWENTY PEOPLE AT A TIME. Give any Newfie a rope to hold, and these dogs can drag multiple people back to shore with minimal effort. Of course their webbed feet and dense coat can’t be overlooked, but the Newfoundland is a very old Canadian breed that has been nearly PERFECTED as a water rescue/fish hauling dog- everything about their design contributes to what the breed was meant to do. That’s why they’re my favourite dog breed by far. 🥰

There is this little country store that opened up recently near my house. The owners have Newfies. The two youngest are 4 months and a year old. Things I learned from this video: Ned: loyal, mostly sticks with the same two dogs (Chance and Shrimpy) even when they make mistakes; definitely a guy who mentions his wife/kid/dog every chance he gets. Most likely to only own a purebred or fancy mix. Eugene: the ultimate dog lover and guy most expected to win so shocking when he doesn’t (reminds me of the bartender and sushi challenges); names dog after food. Most likely to one day own a massive pack of pups yet not be considered a hoarder, just eccentric. Keith: just had every preconceived negative opinion of dogs confirmed while still acknowledging that puppies are pure happiness. Most likely to give Alfred a giant hug when he got home after the shoot and thanked him for using a litter box. Most likely to end up rescuing a small, older, chill dog in the future anyway.
