I studied opera in college. It is a very difficult field, quite political. So, I was thrilled and surprised at what my ears were hearing. Beautiful, beautiful singing. The first time I watched this video, the reactor took one look at Austin and Rob walking in and he said; hey Austin... eat a cheeseburger sometime. Nice to have you back.

Amberly said in the premiere that when Austin heard Rob's recording, he had to go back and re-record his part. It's been a dream of Austin's to get Rob to do an opera song, and I guess this is Rob's dad's favorite.

When this was first released, many reactors were expecting perhaps a comedic spoof or lip syncing. Surprise! We know Rob for his sweet tenor so experiencing this rich, lower voice was such a treat. Given the overwhelmingly positive response the guys received, there've been requests for more but seem to recall reading that a fan asked Austin about the possibility of this, just recently, and he indicated they would not be pursuing more opera. (Actually thought they could've enlisted the rest of HF, surely Adam can do orchestral sounds!) Going forward, you'll see these two in a different light. Their latest album shows them venturing into new styles, expanding their writing skills.

We do all have a share of their talent. We are put on Earth to share in the alchemy of the gift they have. Beauty will always need an audience to appreciate its existence. Like a breathtaking Monet painting, music needs to be shared to lighten what can often be a dismal existence for the full impact of it's value to be realized. I am just happy that there is such talent and I have been bless with the opportunity to have access to it. Still good to see you smile. Your gift is to share that smile along with it the music that adds flavor to life. We all need an extra dose of sunshine when we can find it.

Thank you so much for this reaction right after your welcome return. Did you notice the sweet glance that Austin gave Rob just before they nailed the ending? Congratulations on all the subs! I think people enjoy your sheer enjoyment of what you see - it's honest and refreshing. And the fact you came back with HF can only help. We fries are loyal! As for this, Rob is superb and you can hear his training. Austin of course has that ridiculous voice, but you can hear this isn't his speciality. Depends what you mean by "opera." It's moved on a lot since the Italian warhorses that needed a special form of vocal production to a much more wide-ranging art form, where a high tenor like Austin would actually be more in demand than Rob. Even in the 19th century, there was a need for higher voices.

Lieben-Toten! Where have you been???!!! I’m glad you’re back and looking well. Home Free is still going strong. They churned out videos during the pandemic and they’ve done lots of creative things on their individual channels too. I loved this, I got goosebumps too. Yeah Rob studied opera in college but that was years ago. He was tremendous and yes, he’s a tenor whereas Austin is the high tenor. Here people say he’s a lyric tenor. (I don’t know much about opera). Loved this and so nice to have you back. Also, Tim and Austin have formed another group called Sweet & Low where they tour and use instruments but they do that when Home Free is not touring. Music is flowing!!! 🥰😍

This is insane. Wow, wow and again wow. This is extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob sounds so different. I'm perplexed. Rob has studied some opera, but hasn't sung it in 15 years.. His voice is just magical, so rich, so warm, so powerful. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. He will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers many times in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..

Great Reaction! I have never been a big fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy. Rob did study opera & Austin is trained in musical theatre.

In fact we've heard Rob's voice like this before, in his solos in the Sea Shanty Medley. You can hear quite clearly that the larynx has dropped. We just didn't notice in the excitement! Your reaction to this was that of most reactors and us mere mortals, with many reporting that in the premiere they were in tears. Nessun Dorma is always a big emotional ride if it's done well -- it was written to be just that. Puccini wrote it to be a blockbuster aria after two acts+ of complex (in fact ludicrous) plot. In the original Turandot, the aria is of course a solo and Austin's second section is in fact sung by the chorus but the shortening and rearranging were done intelligently. Rob was a bigger surprise for most people but in fact for many Austin's sections are the "goosebumps" parts and I'm not sure he's ever done anything better. Shout out to Sebastien Douyon, who produced this. You can get stock orchestral backing tracks but the rearrangement of parts they wanted required the backing to be extensively adjusted and tweaked to suit, particularly when Austin wanted to re-record his contribution, not satisfied with the first version. There are still people who think Sebi is just a pianist but he's far more than that and has a great career ahead of him. It is remarkable that one small-ish vocal band should contain not one, but two heroic tenors. It's worth remembering how when Austin first heard Home Free, it was Rob's voice that impressed him most, and Rob who thought so much of Austin's voice that he kept in touch to let him know when they had a vacancy. They are close friends and both among the most kind and humble people you could meet. I think that shows in this amazing achievement.
