I’ve used the same Revive Rc undertrays on my Turbo Optima and it’s done a great job protecting the gold parts I did use washers with the screws as well as taped up the exposed rear cage with vinyl and aluminum tape.👍😊

Great video Damian. I can understand how annoying this construction must be. Thanks for diong the run either.

At least this is available and in a less aggressive surface it would likely work better. Does stop big scratches unless a small stone gets trapped inside. Some buggies come with under trays from the manufacturer so I appreciate this being made by Revive RC and the challenge of making a third party solution. Thanks for watching.

@@DustyFingersRC 🤔 my Avante has one and I always complained about it when changing the battery. But as a protection it makes sense.

I also have the belly pan and use it as a protector for my optima chassis. I ended up using the motor screws from a Traxxas rustler 2wd as the rear mounting screws for the belly pan because they have a big surface area to grab the lexan. I also mounted it to the rod that secures the two chassis halves together. My esc and receiver are mounted on the top chassis plate too, so the driver figure is removed.

Hi there Damian, a great video and advice on protecting that under belly area. You certainly had a lot of work fabricating various repairs to that polycarbonate undertray. Still, the Optima looks really awesome. Best wishes 😊😊

Great video fella! The problem with this particular car is that it just looks too good in all its shiny gold once built! But, at the same time, it's such a great car to drive, so has to be used. As I said to you before, I did look into an under tray for it..... but wasn't entirely convinced it was the way forward, you have confirmed this sir! So, I bit the bullet and ran it unprotected..... and then cringed at the damage to the front underguard, bottom plate, bumper and motor cage! 😬😢 I then ordered a new set of wheels and tyres, new bumpers, new gold front section, bottom chassis plate, motor guard..... and a new body set for good measure. These are all neatly tucked away in the box. So now, I can drive it like I stole it and not have to worry...... knowing I have all the new parts to make it right again at a much later date! I actually mounted the ESC on top from day one, as I was really finding it hard to actually get the driver to fit anyway..... so done away with him! We should think ourselves lucky- this buggy is an absolute gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone! Cheers for showing us mate. 👍 👍 👍 👍

Brilliant! Yeah, I remember our chat and that you bought some spares but didn't realise you bought that many parts. The undertray downfall is that anything which gets inside is trapped and gets thrown about rather than falling back to the ground. Glad.you are.njoying driving it and getting a buzz out of it like I am, thanks for watching, appreciate it 👊🏼

@@DustyFingersRC Yep, I got a bit carried away (as I usually do)!!! I didn't buy new shock towers as I still have the originals in the box after deciding to run it with carbon ones instead, which have picked up a few scrapes! The only parts now that I am still after is the gold shock caps, which inevitably get scuffed during the occasional times I put her on her roof! 😬 Superb content fella, keep up the great work. 👍 👍 👍 👍

Floor marking tape to cover the chassis. It is the same tape that is used to demarcate lanes on warehouse floors. Try some on a test piece to ensure the brand of tape that is used does not need any solvents to remove the adhesive.

I have the same undertray on mine and had no issues with the screws with it going on. I may have drilled in smaller holes and that may have helped, not sure. I did have to notch a bit out for the ESC as well. I did have some dirt and stuff in side once I was done but it was easy enough to clean out. For a regular runner I would probably avoid it as it is going to get scratched up eventually anyways. For me who wants to preserve it as long as possible I like it.

Screwing Lexan in to a countersunk hole stresses the Lexan and some of my screws had a sharper edge at the top than others and after installing it, 20 minutes past and it just popped. The countersunk washer is a better solution but glad yours is OK so far. Choosing your surface is the best bet I think, avoiding areas with small stones cause if they get trapped inside and are thrown around it will get scratched up. The fun of driving it outweighs a few scratches underneath for me and as mentioned the undertray does help stop any gouges from driving over stones, it's the little ones which can get inside that might be the problem. I don't have a nice maintained track to use and just off road where I can but kicking up a ton of dirt is fun so all good. I rather use this buggy and have the pleasure of driving it, I don't want to look back in years to come and only have memories of it sitting on a shelf 👍🏻

Excellent video again, Damian! Hmm, seems like you had a right faff with that undertray, some jobs are sent to try us! Your work arounds were well thought out and implemented, just a shame the undertray only helps to some extent, but I suppose it's better than nothing at the end of the day. All the best, mate! 😎😎👍👍

Thanks Mark. Yeah, I thought this was the ultimate solution so saving the gold parts but reality check. Definitely helps but I think the choice of surface you drive in has the best influence in outcome. I love driving this though and forever grateful to the RCElf as the fun will go on with this beauty 👍🏻

Hiya Damian. Great vid mate. So some trials and tribulations in getting this on to the car. Certainly seems to help. Not sure if anything would keep out all that debris that you were driving in. Personally I think that an RC car should look like it's seen a bit of action anyway. Glad you are enjoying it 😁👍👍

Props to Resolve RC for making this undertray cause it is the only one available. I did consider only driving it in short grass but dirt flying is just more satisfying. Thanks for letting me know the video made you laugh cause I sit here taking a long time editing and never quite sure how it will be received. I have to hold back sometimes but maybe one day when more confident I will go all in on some comedy. Cheers 👍🏻

Nice and honest video as always, Damian! Bummer about the scratches and troubles fitting the undertray, but I still think it's a worthwhile "upgrade" for this series. You could contact Revive and show him the video, I am sure he'll be interested in knowing if there is any improvements to be made. He did respond to my "review" of my Top Force Revive body shell, but maybe that was because I was all positive, ha ha... In general, with lexan, you always gotta reinforce the weak bits, but sadly usually we only know which are the weak bits AFTER they break...

Hi. Yeah I agree it is worth fitting one which I made sure to mention. Just worth considering that any debris such as small stones trapped inside it may scratch it up. Worth considering the surface you drive this on if you want to preserve the gold parts as much as possible. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍🏻

Hi, I understand regards music. YT has been a big learning curve and I have tried different methods but I know what you mean about being able to watch something without music. I personally don't like heavy rock music which many RC channels blast but we are all different. Sorry to say, my running videos don't often have a voice over and do have some music and I try to edit to the music but see what you think. I suppose you can always drop the volume if needed. Thanks for watching.👍🏻

Yeah tape the bottom then install the under tray would help but you did run it hard so there will always be some signs of wear, but that's to be expected... Great video and repair jobs, you narrated this video like a professional commentator!? 🤔 hmmm... Great review Damien. I think you are offering some great advice there pal. I have just picked up an under tray for my Optima Mid and I am wondering if I will see something similar. There isn’t one for the Ultima so I have used electrical tape on that one!
@DustyFingersRC
@DustyFingersRC Жыл бұрын
I think electrical tape will work well cause it will absorb some impact from debris and easy to remove and replace. I am just going to continue to love driving it cause that massively outweighs a shiny bottom on a shelf...oooh err Mrs!

The paint inside the shell seems OK, but yeah good point. Maybe he needs to be taped in place as it might jiggle around. 👍🏻
