Great vids gavin - As I said before used to have a Kyosho Salute back in the day, which is pretty much the same car. I would use copious amounts of thread lock everywhere if your going to be running it for any length of time, as all the alloy to alloy parts had a habit of coming undone frequently. The RE RE shocks are quite different to the Option House gold originals which were top loaded with oil but with the seal package bottom loaded and held in with a sort of wire c clip that used to fling everywhere when putting them in. I am also glad the driveshafts hexes are now pined and not relying on a tapered shank anymore. I always thought the chassis rails, sides and skid plate was a thing of beauty though.

original never had a slipper clutch either but thats a nice addition :)
@genixia3 жыл бұрын
Woe betide anyone who reused wheel nuts too many times - I once lost a right wheel mid-race because the wheel hex slipped on the shaft. Keeping the chain in tension was a pain. One good front-end shunt and it would be gone. Even if the bottom tensioning screws hadn't slipped (which they often did), the front brace would break and the front underplate UM-14 would bend, enough to lose the tension. The belt conversion was an absolute God-send - I never had any slippage, even when slack, and it was good for a 15-20% increase in run-time.

Really enjoyed your build video of this! I just finished up my build this evening. Added all the carbon option parts and sourced the majority of the other option parts for it as well. However, I’m still waiting on some of the option parts to come in. Unfortunately it appears that many of them are on backorder. I also added Lunsford titanium turnbuckles to make the linkage adjustments easier.

As a new enthusiast, i like this buggy. but i will buy the grasshopper before i buy this one. i think this buggie is outstanding. if i am correct i think the tamiya company has priced buggies that are for the first timers, and economical people. once i get some finances taken care of and get more used to this hobby i will challenge myself to one of these. but i am confused which would be a better drive train... a belt or a chain. i think i like the chain.. any ideas for a newbie????

@keithrx3c5 жыл бұрын
As much as I like the gold parts, I don't know why Kyosho went that way with this kit. The original Turbo Optima wasn't gold but there was a limited edition Optima Gold celebration kit (after 100,000 Optima kits were sold) that had all gold alloy parts (the gold parts were also available separately through Option House as well as the gold motor guards and nerf bars). As for the chain, yea very smooth, even the preceding 1/8 nitro buggies (Landjump-Vanning/Presto) were chain driven but they were like bike chains just with smaller links.

What I notice is the new cars that race are using a thinner chassis just like the kyrosho your building how are you going to do the back window black or red and and yeah the build quality is pretty good in my opinion you got your money's worth you have a lot of racing cars where's the monster trucks I like how you gave a lot of detail about the car shows that you were interested in it for a while now I get what they say it's not my cup of tea but doesn't mean it doesn't taste good it's just I sip a different brand. please leave the white Wheels the music is what got me going buying a good quality RC it's like buying nice quality clothing the cheap ones tear easily and the good quality are harder to tear and last you a lot longer in my opinion it's well worth the investment I just wouldn't put too much gold on it you should have did something funny like a gold chain then it would have been cheesy anyways Lucky Charms situation Jesus saves👌🦸♂️💂♂️🎅✝️🤪🏎aka rc stig

I do wish that Kyosho had not done the chassis in gold. I mean the gold looks great, but when you drive the car the chassis will get scratched up. If the chassis were in silver, when the chassis gets scratched it would be hard to see the scratches.
