When I meditate I send out pure love and light, to each and every person, animals and mother nature herself without bias. I wrote on my deviant art sight that if people at the same moment in time, could think of just one person that they loved whole heartedly and send that out into the universe. For that brief but united time. our world would be filled with no other thoughts only love and positive affirmations, how truly amazing would that be.

Hello, Russell. Although, I like to hear your views on politics and society, i love to watch your spiritual and philosophical content on "under the skin" channel. 😍 It is Very helpful. 🌺 I enjoy meditation and I often do breathing exercises, to promote my mental and physical wellbeing. And I do recommend this "ways" to others, if they wish so. I often say to my mum and brother, we are spiritual beings as physical beings. (Science is a great tool to "aim" the physical body but we are spirit too! So science does need to walk "on hand" with spirituality, for we be able to full experience a better us) Mental health matters# ✌

One thing I got out of that philosophically that all has been known for Millenia’s as ancient humans suffered as does modern ones and our only obstacle to accessing the information is language barriers…meaning words to call the experiences we have in this life are the same experiences they have in ancient history and many people not having the ability or education to understand or translate the ancient words for experiences we have today into today’s language. It took me much study to be able to understand what bob is saying that the old language terms can be translated into todays language and then many more people have access to the knowledge and can help to heal and or understand themselves bette without having to spend a lifetime with their faces in a book trying to learn how to translate the old into the new…

The ones who may have also power to make change by way of their status in society and the need for more to care for others and my judgement would suggest that this is not the case currently. Change the world she said!!!!! But seriously, I would love to learn TM but not yet in my budget. I wanted to mention that TM is classist as the 'private mantra' ties you to a teacher and it's often quite expensive. From my perspective, TM is selling a part of you that you may not have been unaware of, back to you. Or, you could just sit and listen to the noise inside your head without trying to change it. At some point a flow of realization will begin. Things get twisted when greed creates a world of scarcity. Many paths I suppose.

Similar line of thought: years ago had soft tissue damage to my knee and doctor was going to prescribe a dozen Percocet or some opioid and I said,”I dont really care for that as its barely a party.” Meaning its pointless as a treatment and I may as well party with them. She, to her credit, she says, “I know what you mean…its all I am allowed to prescribe for pain and then you would have to return.” I said,” I dont want more I want something useful” she left and when she returned she has my employer insurance info for me…thankfully they were forward thinking as well because she then prescribed me: 3 Acupuncture treatments, 6 soaks in a hot tub at the physical therapy center and two massages. SCORE! A prescription for meditation would be right in line

My dad was ‘prescribing meditation as a GP in the ‘80’s and was a founder member of the patient participation organisation. I’ve done Hua Qigong for 30 years - it’s a whole different system to mainstream medicine - they’ve been researching this in China for years but some Qigong masters say that science isn’t advanced enough to research much of this. Of course meditation is the way forward, but people need really good guidance and support as it does open us up when properly effective.
@ZeroOskul

Qigong coupled with meditation is as goid as yoga with meditation. Science has a grip on this. Anyone who claims they are beyond science has no scientific evidence to back up the claim.

@@ZeroOskul thanks for your reply. Please check out writing by Dr. Yan Xin. He has been working in this line of research for many years. Qigong is meditation and it is movement. One begets the other. It is not solely a martial arts practice as many would think. It’s is the means of coming into a very good mediative state and a very ancient practice, predating Tai Chi. Science is still in its infancy in comparison. A fundamental flaw is that we rely on it too much for our answers and not enough on our own practices, intuition and experience, which of course requires sound teaching from a recognised teacher. For those who do not know - Qigong means the practice of cultivating chi or life force.
@ZeroOskul
@ZeroOskul 2 жыл бұрын
@@henriettapaine1185 Science is 2,200 years old and Chigong is 4,000 years old, less than half the age is hardly infancy. Science doesn't succeed by being old, it succeeds by finding out what is wrong. Scientists make assumptions and then do tests to prove their assumptions wrong, not right. It is only when something cannot be proved wrong that science decides it is right. The only exercise proven to enhance the immune system is Wim Hof ice bathing, and that was discovered by scientists wanting to prove Wim Hof wrong, not by his supporters. When you go to your doctor they do not want to know what is right but what is wrong. Chigong is a practice of movement through poses like yoga or taichi. Meditation is done as a separate practice with Chigong, just as meditation is a separate practice from Yoga and from Taichi. They can be done seconds apart or minutes apart but they should never be done in simultaneous conjunction.

@@ZeroOskul thank you for your response. Our experience with qigong is different. When practiced effectively over many years Qigong becomes formless and paradoxically it is integrated into every daily action, be it in stillness or movement, sleep, work or play. Qigong predates Taoism, which indeed grew out of a Qigong practice. I would really recommend looking at the research done by Dr. Yan Xin, along with Dr. Masaru Emoto. I think there is much inspiration to be found here. You are right about mainstream medicine, but there is a movement in Britain which my dad fronted as a doctor within the NHS to educate and empower people to take responsibility for their health and well-being. It’s great to hear your opinions on this. 🙏

YES. For the love of God YES. However they should also prescribe mind management to go along with. As you certainly can figure, awareness means nothing if you don't know what to do about that which you become aware. If one becomes aware of anything, and have no way of handling said thought or memory etc... then it may serve to frustrate. So meditate then mind manage. That is the key.

Seeing as a collective we trend to shallow-breathe, easily become overstimulated, and resist other forms of therapeutic intervention (or can’t afford them)-meditation is a free tool to expand consciousness, akin to breath-work in the sense that what it does for the brain and mind is what breath-work does for the nervous system.

Children teach us not to pay attention to time where we are and knowing that much I never remembered childhood as avidly as when my Son was re-teaching me how to live No time where we are or extra knowing just living from day to day understanding that the further we went the less we would know Letting go of being an adult went so deeply and like heaven Children are teachers of the soul and life and we should listen to them

I know for a certainty that as I change my consciousness, it impacts the collective conscience. As more of us discover this, we can absolutely change the world. Our power lies not in politics or wealth. Our power comes from a higher source. When we allow fear to dominate our lives, we become part of a negative collective consciousness. When we work from positivity, we bring that to the collective consciousness. Thank you for helping so many people become aware of this. You help keep us all moving the right direction.

I would love Russel Brand interviewing a great ASMR artist and how ASMR can reach people in a way similar to meditation. I accidentally discovered ASMR while googling "watching people knit" as that is how my busy mind relaxes. Some people benefit from walking meditations such as labyrinth walking or crazy walks. Meditation is a state of mind, and while many people get still, others may benefit from a dynamic movement form: dance, tai chi, chi gong, hatha yoga, bikram hot yoga, art, equine (horse) therapy, etc.

Personally I have struggled with mental health issues for about as long as I can remember and there are different types of meditation which are not all created equal. I prefer the Dr Huberman format of gratitude practice. Not writing down what you're thankful for (not that that couldn't help too) but its own unique format. It's no cure but it definitely helps. Just keep trying things until something clicks

I live between two narcistic personalities, It's been a real struggle trying to be the best me at all times. I'm really hopeful that if I work harder at it and meditate on it more to be a better version of myself, that the others will follow my lead, and peace will have a chance. It's true that there is a lot of stress in the world and we can all feel it, but let's bring love into the world, think on it, meditate on it, and make it happen and maybe the world will feel it too.

Mindfulness and meditation over years - has for me - changed my life and in turn those around me, esp body awareness, body scan, compassionate (loving kindness) meditation (Metta bhavana). I will always be grateful for the offer of an NHS 10 week Mindfulness Course, which I was open enough to stick with and complete, as well as reading Paul Gilbert’s’ Compassionate Mind’. I lived in my head - and not in my body - or heart mind..but not anymore. I’m now less reactive and much more aware of being aware of my mind chatter. Transformative for me in my personal experience. Care needed I’m sure - for some, as it can/could I’m sure be even more triggering if not done with those spiritually/medically trained/aware- esp big deep, trauma/ptsd.

Because of the overall wonder and things yet to really finish questioning regarding consciousness and energy and many aspects of quantum mechanics I'm not equipped with a reasonable answer for how my mental health is, let alone what it is. I have been exploring that one for a very long time, and much of it gets foggy or abstract when having to observe what's more subjective, what changes between vocabularies, and what different perspectives of the same objective can offer. This is a strange labyrinth of consciousness trying to observe itself. If you can find someone who can outright say what consciousness is and how they can specifically detect it we would have established only what definition we are working with and what tools they use to observe it. Just the same, that alone opens up the potential of some very in depth conversations, which seems right up your alley, doesn't it? True enough I'd enjoy more conversations about it. What if all the theories about reality are true at once? That there is a cosmic consciousness, reality is a hologram of sorts, that the big bang happened, that the universe is inside a black hole, that multiple realities exist, that the end of the universe is when the last black hole closes after having taken everything from one universe into the next, that reality is a program, perhaps one in a quantum computer of sorts, that there are many dimensions, that every atom could contain its own infinity, that all the overall existence itself is one entity, so on. For even one of these we have had to deal with being unequipped to really explore these possibilities well, and yet when I ask my instincts about it, all I get in response is I don't really feel these couldn't all happen at once, the question would primarily be in the language and ability to co-ordinate perspectives to make them more efficient in the task of defining and seeking the information. There is something very intangible that has a way of speaking through the tangible, but it is very much like when AI developed it's own language and scientists eventually couldn't understand it, yet it was clear that communication was occurring and being understood by the AIs. It's observable, but to observe it more objectively scientists would need an appropriate program with a wide spectrum of sensory input for data to translate, because this effect goes beyond what I've seen from tech. It may be possible organic mechanisms already exist to compute this and for all we can guess, maybe it exists because cosmic consciousness wants to observe and communicate with itself. I wouldn't be too surprised, I observe and talk to myself most days. It's not exactly outside the realms of possibility as far as anyone could be sure. I will be frank about this though, my explorations have seen me tumble on fast spin through a complex rabbit hole, and while some is actually quite enjoyable, the effects get extremely surreal. It's the complete opposite to getting grounded. The use of meditation can be to float off into rabbit holes, or to get grounded, it depends on what you're trying to achieve. It's largely setting the state of mind, which effects everything we think, say and do, so it's very relevant to how we experience life. If everyone set their intentions and state of mind to a similar enough mode, the effects of that would indeed be global. Humans have an incredible impact on the planet even when they don't think about doing so. Doing that intentionally would only increase the results. People are silly enough to feel so small. Humility is good, but it's possible to be a giant and still be humble.

They can prescribe meditation, acupuncture, herbal treatments, aroma therapy, etc in the US however if it isn't in the FDA pipeline AND a controlled substance, insurance will not pay for it. A great example of this nullifying conflict is aspirin as nearly every cardiac patient is prescribed but none are cost reimbursed or covered. The cost is the problem. Meditation is just one of a multitude of viable treatments that live in the area of imposed illigetimacy. Sometimes, when the foundation is rotten, the house needs to be torn down and rebuilt; applying lessons learned from the rotten structure's failure.

Currently reading Lynch's book "Catching the Big Fish", and now again hearing about transcendental meditation here… but the whole, "pay a teacher for a mantra"-gist feels weird to me. To test the Maharishi Effect, check violent crime stats in Fairfield Iowa, where Maharishi International University is located and where you can find more TM practitioners actively meditating any given day, than anywhere else on the planet. If the Maharishi Effect were real, there would be no violent crime in Fairfield, Iowa. At least Fairfield, Iowa should have significantly lower violent crime than all surrounding towns, and Iowa should have significantly lower violent crime than the surrounding states.
